Oh, but he IS "conservative," if you define "conservative" as "ruling for Christian values." He's anti-abortion, which for many people is alone enough qualification to be "conservative."
I want "conservative" as in, use government conservatively. Use it sparingly. The CONSERVATIVE use of government. By that definition, Santorum is a liberal because he has a record of endorsing and advancing government, from minimum wage raises (he voted for them SIX TIMES) to using government to bolster unions. Santorum is willing to use government liberally. He helps take the force of government and by using it too liberally, turns it from a servant into a tyrant.
I'm a conservative (that I'm a Christian conservative is beside the point) who will only vote for Republicans or third-party candidates who articulate and understand the goal of using government CONSERVATIVELY.
Funny, I remember when Santorum was serving in the Senate, and he was extremely popular with conservatives at the time. (certainly moreso than Newt was when Newt served as Speaker, history revisionism notwithstanding) Must have been doing all that evil liberal stuff behind the scenes, right? Sneaky guy.
