The complicated process of signing up for Obamacare is now being matched by IRS instructions to help Americans figure out how much in healthcare taxes they owe Uncle Sam.
The agency has issued 21 pages of instructions, complete with links to at least three long forms and nine tip sheets.
It is geared to those who have Obamacare or who owe a fine, dubbed “shared responsibility payment,” for refusing to get health insurance. The IRS warned that everybody must have health insurance or pay the tax.
“While the vast majority of tax filers — over three quarters — will just need to check a box on their tax return indicating they had health coverage in 2014, people who have coverage through the Marketplaces, or decided not to enroll in coverage, should be aware of some additional steps that will be a part of the tax filing process starting this year,” said the Department of Health and Human Service, which runs the Affordable Care Act.
The IRS form gives multiple examples of how much those without insurance, either through Obamacare or employers, owe in their “shared responsibility payment.”
For example, a single male earning $40,000 a year would owe $298.50....

It’s not a question of WILL they go to jail. If every law in this Country was enforced, we’d all be in jail.
It’s a question of CAN they be put in jail. Cities used to have Vagrancy Laws that were rarely enforced, but could be used to deal with troublesome types. Vagrancy Laws were, I belive, found to be unconstitutional. I’m wondering if we are just recycling those same old laws.....and will these also be found to be unconstitutional.....

The government has pushed itself into our private lives in many incremental ways and we’ve just rolled over. Obama care crossed a line with me. I am willing to sacrifice my life and/or comfort - over this one.
Dead serious. I’ve felt that way since Roberts’ supreme court gave it the green light.
If not now, when? Are we truly sheep that can be mowed down incrementally?
On a side note, I’ve kept my “taxable” income intentionally low. We make enough to not qualify for a subsidy but just little enough to be exempt because the cost of health care would be more than 8% of our taxable income.

Yep. It’s becoming more and more obvious to more and more people. And this is the year a HUGE number of americans will be directly affected by the bad ju-ju foisted on us over the last six years.

Well the IRS wasn’t joking when they said they were going to hire 15,000 accountants and attorneys to administer Obamacare.

Why don’t the Republicans show some faith and pass a bill to put off this craziness for now. The IRS won’t be able to handle and process this abortion to begin with. The IRS is supposedly understaffed this year and there will massive mistakes made by them causing distress to many Americans.
