Financial Times' Editor Calls Charlie Hebdo 'Stupid,' Accuses Paper Of 'Muslim Baiting'
The Huffington Post ^ | 01/07/2015 | By Ryan Grenoble

Posted on 01/08/2015 9:53:48 AM PST by dennisw

"Charlie Hebdo has a long record of mocking, baiting and needling French Muslims," Barber writes, pointing a finger at the paper for inciting the violence. "France is the land of Voltaire, but too often editorial foolishness has prevailed at Charlie Hebdo."

He continued:

This is not in the slightest to condone the murderers, who must be caught and punished, or to suggest that freedom of expression should not extend to satirical portrayals of religion. It is merely to say that some common sense would be useful at publications such as Charlie Hebdo, and Denmark’s Jyllands-Posten, which purport to strike a blow for freedom when they provoke Muslims, but are actually just being stupid.

The column has already accrued more than 500 comments at Financial Times, many of them critical and unforgiving.

"This article is appalling in its insensitivity to those who were killed and injured in today's horrific and totally unjustifiable attack," reads one comment. "Although the author states that he does not condone the murders, he is, by writing that the staff at the magazine lacked common-sense, insinuating that the victims brought this on themselves. Shocking and shameful."

Another describes the piece as "indescribably tasteless," both due to its content, and the fact that Foreign Times published it "as people lie bleeding in hospital, and as they carry the bodybags across Paris."

I don’t know a lick of French but from the cartoons I have seen from Charlie Hebdo, I would have to say they are spot on. The Moslems through the actions of their radicals and the inactions of the moderates, with an exception or three, have brought this upon themselves.

So, Huffpo, I can find and murder the “artist” of Piss Christ and claim that I was a fundamentalist Christian...and you’ll then defend me by accusing the artist of “Christian baiting”?

Oh, didn’t think so, Obamaholes.

Meanwhile the Presidunce said Sony was wrong to pull The Interview from theaters despite the terrorist threats that were made about the offensive film.

Huff Post, big surprise. This argument is equivalent to telling a women who was raped that she asked for it because she dressed slutty.

It is ‘control freaks’ in government, ‘control freaks’ in religion, and ‘control freaks’ just about everywhere nowadays.

This is not in the slightest to condone the murderers...

Yes, actually, it is. Free speech does not mean "free speech for those I find acceptable". If it did, there would be a lot more dead journalists.

Sort of the way King Obama mocks, baits and needles American conservatives and other patriots (aka Bitter Clingers)?

Bingo. Glad to see the readers are getting it, even if the author of that ridiculous article does not.

These were not the views of HuffPo, but of another publication: the Financial Times, and specifically FT’s Europe editor, Tony Barber.

“The FT kisses up to its islamonazi gulf Arab masters.”

Correct! It circulates widely in wealthy Arab elites in the Middle East

This is idiotic. The magazine has published far many more gross cartoons about the Catholic Church, and even about the Trinity (!), but I don’t think the Financial Times would feel Catholics were justified in setting out to kill the magazine’s staff because they were feeling “provoked.”

It’s a silly, juvenile magazine and I wouldn’t buy it if I lived in France...but it certainly has as much of a right to attack Islam as it has to attack the Catholic Church.

It does not matter what the victim was. A team of criminally insane mass murderers own 100% of the blame. They should be caught and executed.

We know who the enemies of our Free Republic are such as Financial Times and the whole Progressive Liberal Democrat Rino Communist Party and their MSM minions, they are proud to continually prove their alignment, so long as we are under a one party political system they will thrive, I’ve already been told here on FR that the GOP is not dead, that it can be healed albeit by hook and crook playing political games of strategy, I call BS, it is time for conservatives to unite under a new party a new banner and become a true opposition party, stop trying to resurrect the dead republican party, the corpse is already decaying and the stench is unbearable, it is past time for conservatives to come out from among them.
