Surviving staff members of Charlie Hebdo have vowed to publish the satirical weekly next Wednesday, despite the murder of most of its senior journalists with a hoped-for print run of 1m copies.
Google said it would donate 250,000 (£195,000) to help support the publication from its press innovation fund; a further 250,000 was pledged by French newspaper publishers, to be taken by a donation tax, according to a report in Les Echos.
The two groups involved in the distribution of the papers will take no fee for next weeks issue.
Richard Malka, the magazines lawyer, told Les Echos that the remaining staff aim to print 1m copies of the satirical weekly which has a typical print run of 60,000.

It is great to stand up and publish.
But, the reality is you MUST BE PREPARED TO DEFEND!!!!
(NOTE: A UNIFORM AND A BICYCLE IS NOT A DEFENSE!!!)
If I can find a copy I will buy one. And I dont read French.
REPRINT ALL THE PHOTOS!!!!
And how can I get a copy? Let’s find out!
Me too. How can we find out how to get this historic issue?

Can help somewhat.
The attack on Charlie Hebdo was an attack on the idea of freedom of speech in the West by Islam.
One must wonder how many of them, and French in general, are breaking the law by being armed despite the constraints...
A government that makes it so only criminals will have guns ensures an increasing population of criminals in it's midst...
Is that like a required voluntary donation?
I’ll buy one too. Anyone got the address?
ALL the French papers should publish mohammed cartoons this week!
You may not be supporting who or what you think you’re supporting. FYI.
“A uniform and a bicycle is not a defense.”
Correct. A uniform is a target. A bicycle is a slow way to get away when unarmed.
There was a great piece by Daniel Henninger in the WSJ today saying exactly that. It’s one thing to “make statements” or develop hashtags or stand around holding candles, and another thing to stop this from happening again.
He says that now we just get emotional for a few days, clean up the debris (mostly body parts), and then go back to pretending it never happened. What is needed is a concerted military, LE and legal response to Islamic terrorism, that is, stamping them out in their countries (or stamping out their countries), pursuing them in other countries, and punishing them as enemy agents.
All USA papers whould too.
I was surprised that US papers have never published them saying they were too provocative.
I am not primarily interested in supporting the satirical paper but putting my thumb in the eye of the Islamist and supporting freedom of speech.
As will I. Heck I may even see about a subscription.
Drop off a copy at your local mosque.
(Reuters) - The Danish newspaper Berlingske has republished cartoons on Islamic themes from the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, as part of its coverage of the attack which killed 12 people in Paris on Wednesday.
The Thursday print edition of Berlingske, available online on Wednesday night, showed several past front pages from the French magazine. Among them was one depicting the Prophet Mohammad and another about sharia law.
I despise Google, but good on them for this.
