I’ve seen this. Thanks for providing it.

It provides an interesting dichotomy in that Judas betrays Jesus but ends up in Paradise anyway as having been the necessary agent to insure Jesus’ death, sacrifice and resurrection.

As a disclaimer, I’m agnostic about the Gospel as I’m more an OT advocate, though I have a fair enough grasp of NT theology to know the United States could never have been founded without it.

Dear Mrs. Don-o,

It wouldn't help any of the folks you mention to ascribe to them some false right to be angry over mockery of their false, blasphemous religion.

Donahue was wrong - mohammadans have no right to be angry when others mock their vile scum religion. Donahue is a creep, a jerk, and an ass. He should curl up in a corner, shut his fat, ugly trap, and let people forget about him. He is a disgrace to humanity.

You probably know this, but just for a reminder, the Gospel of Judas isn’t NT, it’s 3rd century AD Gnostic.

I actually did know that, but displayed more ignorance in not including a reference therein.

Thank you. “Goodness and Mercy”

freedom of speech is a good thing when reasonable people speak. When some commie halfwits make fun of everyone they disagree with, -- religion and capitalism, and make no substantive arguments, only insults -- then that is not speech. That is public indecency. How they are going to do it: by making laws or by tort cases for damages, -- is not my business.

Do you trust the Holder Justice Department to draw the fine line between "reasonable speech" and "insults"? Look at how that idea has worked out in Canada.

But the idea that any drawing or uttering is immediately protected speech is ridiculous, and it just turned deadly.

Do you think it wouldn't have "turned deadly" if the magazine had criticized Islam "reasonably"? Salman Rushdie was on a much higher literary level than Charlie Hebdo, and he still got a fatwa against him.

Indeed the “there oughtta be a law” crowd has failed to notice what government they are now asking to do it.

The French found it best to ignore it.

And reasonable people could certainly point out, with charitable love as always, how Charlie H. is mistaken.

Well, that is somewhat different question. Remember that we have things like Holder Justice Department after 50 years of gradual liberalization of community decency laws. A typical Obama voter considers crudity his birthright.

Prior to 1960 mild censorship worked just fine everywhere.

Note that it was never a top-down legislation. There were voluntary industry standards and case law. The road to reasonableness of public discourse will be, no doubt, very difficult, but for now all I am advocating is the removal of the notion that any speech whatsoever, even left-wing cartoons and porn is protected speech.

Interesting, too, that we actually have political correctness at work now. A cartoon insulting to gays or suggesting that abortionists belong to jail would be rid of very quickly. It is because they are off-the-cliff left wing that this Hebdo Charlie has gotten so far, and too far for its own good.

Observe that you are worrying about some cartoonist not being able to express himself because of imaginary rights that he thinks he has, while the case on hand is extra-judicial execution of 12 people, with, no doubt, more to come, and entire towns overrun by gendarmerie.

Never quote a man’s exact words if you set out to make him look like a fool. So not many people will ever read or hear what he actually said.

God is angry enough, in fact, to bother to dig down to why someone might be opposing Him “in ignorance and unbelief.” And to do something about the situation even if it means temporarily blinding that someone.

I can’t say I am 100% sure, but I have a hunch. Because in a small sense I have been there and done that. Militant secularists like Charlie sometimes blame the concept of “religion” or “faith” in general for things that we know are due to the gross abuse of faith. And some of the grossest abusers are Islamic, using it to preach a graceless “God” who asks people “do you feel lucky punk?” We know this is a horrible mistake on their part. It is like blaming the mail for mail bombs, or blaming airplanes for 9/11. But how many Christians out of 100 can show the sort of love that St. Paul told the church in libertine Corinth was being extended by the Lord every minute, waiting to be reflected? Maybe if some of the Charlie people had met Christians like that they might have reconsidered what they were doing. We’ll never know on this mortal coil.

The point is that France has a government in any case:

- immigration regulations flooding the country with Muslims are government.
- gendarmerie in military gear are government.
- man hunts cross-country are government
- police protection for Charlie Hebdo is government.
- and yes, removal of free speech protection from left wing agitators will also be government.

Meow.

I agree “instigate” may have been the wrong word to use. Perhaps “acknowledge” or “accept” would have been more appropriate. But since we were not there we will never know for sure.

I've been thinking a lot lately about God's stupendous power and intelligence --- seen in everything He has created in this vast Universe of His, from the neutrino to the one of His neatest inventions, the golden-winged warbler which can hear tornadoes hundreds of miles away, to the great Quasars --- and I thought ---

He will bring that power and that intricate intelligence to bear to accomplish each person's salvation, if we will allow it. He is bringing all that power and intelligence to bear for our behalf, now as I am writing this. Very lost, marred souls can say "Remember me, Lord, when You come into Your kingdom" and the Lord will say, "I died for you. Take My hand. Come with Me."

There is hope.

And this kind of philosophy is why I write gospel songs. I don’t tout any denomination, though I do have certain theological leanings. Make the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ attractive by whatever means possible. It’s easy to chime in with a worldly refrain after starting with a godly verse, to use the song writing metaphor. But that creates confusion at best. The Lord is not just loving, the Lord is love. It is we humans who are caught up in hate.

Why of course you are so high and mighty you needn’t be bothered. So high and mighty you even deliberately set up a strawman.

Why are YOU so worried about these goofballs. Put the shoe on the other foot in your same terms.
