Because many liberals see Israel as an arm of the U.S. and Muslims/Palestinians as oppressed people. They identify with Muslims as rejecting western imperialism. And Islam is opposed to Christianity, and many liberals hate Christianity.

Yes, of course it's lunatic "logic," because the Muslims they favor would gladly cut their liberal heads off in a second. So basically they champion people who hate them and everything they stand for. But who said liberals were sane people?
