A California father was arrested after throwing a party for his daughter’s 18th birthday over the weekend. The theme: “Liv’s Playboy Mansion.”

San Diego County sheriff’s deputies told 10 News that 150 to 200 teens were in attendance Olivia Lake’s birthday party. Many were drinking alcohol and some girls were dressed in lingerie and wearing bunny ears.

Complaints from neighbors led sheriff’s deputies to shut the party down, and Olivia’s father Jeff Lake was arrested and charged with violating the social host ordinance in Poway, Calif. According to 10 News, that ordinance makes it illegal to host a party where underage individuals consume alcohol. It comes with a possible six month jail sentence.

People don’t realize how sex is such a part of how these bodies we occupy are wired. My wife used to work with severely retarded kids (up to 18 years old) and there were some interesting events regarding the 15-18 year olds. One girl lifted up her shirt/skirt and one of the 17 year old boys only knew to start shaking his leg like Thumper. Stuff like that. It is very revealing about the nature of the human body

I see us as merely occupying this biological machine we call the human body, but so much of it is hard wired similarly to animal instincts. It is why the bible admonishes us to control it. This means that, yes, it is inappropriate for women - even Christian women - to dress “titilatingly”.

My wife likes to remind me that if they catch me looking, they got what they wanted.

The bible contrasts the spirit with the flesh in many places. One example:

For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please. Galatians 5: 17

While it is up for philosophical/theological debate, I agree that we are spiritual beings in an earthly human body rather than biological machines with a spiritual component.

Where do Liberaltarians fall on this?

'Liberaltarians'! Har!! I see what you did there. You made fun of their name. Too funny!! Can I steal that?

Speaking as a libertarian, I am generally in favor of 18 year old, lingerie clad females.

I am sure that a Republican's favor is quite different.

I concur. I like the way C.S. Lewis put it:

You don’t have a soul. You are a soul. You have a body.

Why do I think of that scene from “Vacation.”

“I go steady, and I French Kiss.”

“So, everybody does that.”

“Yeah, but Daddy says I’m the best at it.”

“You don’t have a soul. You are a soul. You have a body.”

I love that. It’s so true. It’s inherent in the difference between doing something constructive and giving with your life vs being a Hedonist. Thanks for posting.

If an 18 year old is considered adult enough to vote or go to war they should be allowed to consume alcohol.

Respectfully, that was the sentiment during the Vietnam conflict, and in a lot of states, like NY and CT, the drinking age was lowered to 18. Problem was, a lot of 18 year olds would buy for their younger siblings, or have their IDs “borrowed”, and a lot of minors were getting maimed, or killed, as a result. I know, I was a minor during that era.

It might be a reasonable compromise to allow those who serve, and are under 21, to consume beer or wine, on base, but not restore the 18 year old age limit for the general population.

I have heard about this, because apparently it is a popular prank amongst highschool boys to cut out kids in underwear pages from clothes catalogs and insert them into schoolbooks so that they can say jokingly accuse them of being paedophiles when they open their schoolbooks.

They don’t publish models of children wearing underwear in Britain as far as I’m aware to stop nonces using them to get their kicks, not because it is illegal but because the companies consider doing so to be in poor taste.

You could use that logic to stop people buying guns on the grounds that some will abuse them. If you are 18 years old and are old enough to vote and go to war, you are accountable for your actions, and if you abuse the privilege, you pay the price, just like everybody else. In the UK, drinking is legal at 18, and drinking with a meal is legal at 16. It makes sense to introduce it slowly so that the novelty has worn off somewhat by the time they have reached adulthood.

Be sure to note the links at posts 77, 99, & 100. Your blanket condemnation of California negates the home of FR and one of its largest sources of funding out of the mistaken, cowardly, and despicable belief that liberal decline is irreversible.
You’re welcome.

Be sure to actually READ what you were linked to.
Also note what state I live in.
Also note that Florida is reviled as being “duh” and all one has to do is say “Florida” and everyone knows what is being referred to.
Which is what I am saying.
There is a reason California is called the land of fruits and nuts.
There is also a reason New York is reviled.

Thanks for your reply.

I understand your point of view; my perspective comes from 14 - 18 year olds that were my contemporaries, who didn’t live long enough to reach adulthood.

I won't.

There is a reason California is called the land of fruits and nuts.

The reason is cowards like you, who will deprecate everyone in the whole State because of the works of its political class. Some of us have the balls and commitment to stay and develop the tools to turn that tide, knowing what "our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor" really means.
