I'm not quite ready for a third party, but close. Ours is a two party structure and a third party could take decades to establish itself. The Republicans of the 1850s are NOT a good example because they had a completely sectional country and Lincoln only won 1/2 of the North to win the election (there were four parties competing, really).

This time around it would me much harder, and without a war to solidify domestic power, as I say it would take 4-5 elections.

All that said, we may soon have no choice.

It would be nice to have a 2nd party, a party of opposition for a change. You talk of a 3rd party, where’s the 2nd? Uniparty is what we have now. The only difference between the democrats and the republicans are the $$$ and who controls it.
