Are you really that naive? Remember the Wellstone Memorial? The Democrat, and Republican leadership are run by soulless sociopaths.

I remeber it well. It occasioned one of Mark Steyn’s best articles:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/780314/posts

I just re-read it and laughed out loud several times.

But maybe you’ve never lost a child, because if you had I suspect you would know that that’s different from losing a colleague, especially a colleague who would have wanted exactly that sort of “tribute”.

Or maybe you really believe that your democratic opponents are truly soulless aliens who wouldn’t feel any of the feelings that you, as a human would feel if you lost your own child.

I know many Democrats and I find them wrong on most everything and often frustrating in arguments.

But I would never accuse them or any person of the kind of scoiopathy that this author is ascribing to them. And if I made such an accusation, there would be a heavy burden on me to support it. To follow up by saying “the burden is on them to disprove it” is frankly silly.

The whole article reads like the kind of thing Democrats used to say about Dick Cheney. He was such an evil bugaboo for the left that I think it was Pat Buchanan who said he was “the man who couldn’t be libelled” because any accusation made against him was presumptively true.

I didn’t think the kind of personal attacks Buchanan was referring to helped our nation then and I don’t think they help us now.
