Will John Boehner Be Embarrassed Again?
The Atlantic/Yahoo News. ^ | Jan 5, 2015 (Updated) 10:05PM | Russell Berman

Barring a stunner, John Boehner will be reelected as speaker when the House convenes for the beginning of the 114th Congress. But as opposition from conservatives trickles out, it appears Boehner won't be able to escape the indignity of watching a dozen or more members of his own party refuse to support him in a public vote shortly after noon on Tuesday. For the second consecutive term, a vote that is ordinarily a formality will carry with it the potential for high drama. Two Republicans, Representatives Ted Yoho of Florida and Louie Gohmert of Texas, have launched what can only be described as extreme long-shot bids to challenge Boehner during the formal floor vote. And several other GOP lawmakers have cited a range of grievances—the $1 trillion "omnibus" spending bill, insufficiently aggressive conservative governance, broken promises—in declaring they won't support the Ohioan. What does it all amount to? While short of a coup, the late protests will ensure that for the second consecutive term, a vote that is ordinarily a formality will carry with it the potential for high drama.

At the beginning of each Congress, the first vote the House takes is to elect a speaker.

I read some of the comments on Yahoo. Mostly no one wants Johnny “Walker” Boehner being the Crybaby next in line.

Yep, but they should have really worked on this for the past 2 months. This is mostly posturing by guys who are on Boehner’s “S list” anyway and have nothing to lose. Should be at least 50 Tea Party conservatives, no?

You know, in a more perfect universe, Boehner would look at the polls, say to himself:

"The American people have rejected my leadership, it's time to sit down and let someone else take a stab at things."

OK, stop laughing!

Still... his determination to hang on (screw the voters), his willingness -- hell, EAGERNESS -- to surrender on amnesty and Obamacare (again, screw the voters).

Why in G-d's name would anyone want to vote in the future if it is as absolutely meaningless?

From Mark Melrose:

Boehner Top Five Reasons He is an Obama Supporter:

1. Repeal ObamaCare
Boehner voted against a full repeal of ObamaCare, the most destructive single law to American liberty in recent memory.

2. Stop IRS Targeting
Boehner voted against
a bill to stop the IRS from targeting individuals based on their
political beliefs, such as when the agency disproportionately targeted
conservative non-profits before the 2012 elections.

3. The Massie Amendment
Boehner opposed
an amendment by Rep. Thomas Massie that would have blocked the NSA from
collecting Americans’ telephone metadata without a warrant.

4. Delay ObamaCare’s Individual Mandate
Boehner voted against a one-year delay of the ObamaCare individual mandate that is hurting millions of Americans.

5. Raising the Debt Limit
Boehner supported suspending the debt limit until March of 2015, with non accompanying spending reforms.

Kstreet has millions invested in Boehner. They won’t let him quit. Otherwise they have to start buying a new speaker.

Boehner is simply beyond any kind of embarrassment, as are the constituents from OH who insist on thrusting him on the nation.

The problem is Boehner is there for the lobbyists not the American people.

The House will convene at noon. The first order of business is the election of the Speaker.

Exactly. After the CRomnibus sellout to Obama, if Boehner keeps his job, we’ll know for sure that the fix is in.

I tend to agree about the posturing.

An old bull and a young bull were grazing on the hill side when the cow boy drove his truck up to the ramp and opened the gate to let a monster big bull into their pasture.

The young bull went down the hill at a gallop attacking the ground pawing new bull. The young bull was devastated by the intruder.

Later, the old bull asked the young bull that was nursing his wounds “That seemed foolish. Why did you attack that big ferocious bull”

The youngster replied....”I didn’t want him to think I was a cow”
