Former House Majority Whip Candidate Marlin Stutzman Joins Rebellion Against Boehner

Rep. Marlin Stutzman (R-IN) will officially join the rebellion against John Boehner’s re-election as Speaker of the House on Monday morning, Rep. Jim Bridenstine (R-OK) announced in a statement late Sunday evening.

Stutzman, Bridenstine said, will issue a statement early Monday announcing his public opposition to Boehner’s re-election. That brings the total number of members who are public in their opposition to nine, as Bridenstine and Reps. Steve King (R-IA), Dave Brat (R-VA), Paul Gosar (R-AZ), Walter Jones (R-NC), and Thomas Massie (R-KY) issued public statements saying they are opposing Boehner. Reps. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) and Ted Yoho (R-FL) both announced their own candidacies against Boehner, and many incoming freshman representatives made campaign promises to either definitely vote against Boehner or that they’d consider doing so.

“I am pleased to see so many Members of Congress responding to the voices of their constituents in supporting new leadership,” Bridenstine said in his Sunday night statement. “Rep. Louie Gohmert added his name to Rep. Ted Yoho as willing to stand for election as Speaker of the House. Reps. Paul Gosar, Steve King and Dave Brat made public statements of their commitments to vote for new leadership. Rep. Marlin Stutzman also gave me permission to announce that his statement would be forthcoming Monday morning. Rep. Walter Jones, Thomas Massie and I had issued our statements previously.”

I also heard Jamie Dupree this morning say that new rep Jody Hice will also vote against Boehner, but no confirmation yet.

Good news and Mitch McConnell should be on the same list.

He is a rat that has been neutralized and compromised.

Nine have “publicly” declared against Boehner. Just think how many anti-Boehner votes are under the radar. I’m telling ya; this thing is doable.

I'm a bit disgusted even if Boehner is dumped. Why? The number should be at least 50 by now if their campaign rhetoric was anything but a sick joke to deceive voters.

House Republicans need to get this thing done and remove Boehner. He is a liar and not fit to lead anything.

Good point. It seems that GOP voters have an endless capacity to accept being lied to and deceived. They keep voting for one thing only to get more of the same year after year. There’s a word for this.

And then there's the EXTRA $92 TRILLION in unfunded liabilities. When you add that to the nominal national debt of $18 TRILLION each taxpayer's portion of this monumental debt is nearly $1 million! We're going to get crushed by this eventually -- and nobody is doing anything about it.

Why are these Reps waiting until the very last moment to announce their opposition to Boehner? They should gotten this train rolling earlier. It takes time to begin building momentum and get the whole thing rolling at full speed!

I agree, but:

#1. Some of them are Freshmen just arriving and it’s prolly scary to go against one of the most powerful persons in D.C.

#2. I’m sure a lot of the incumbents, returning to Congress, are “flying under the radar” right now to protect their Committee assignments and

Assuming Boehner did lie to Stutzman as has been reported, it would be disappointing to see Stutzman continue to support Boehner. Equally disappointing is that more of the House majority aren’t joining in ousting a conniving liar from leadership.

Perfect illustration of what is wrong with Congress. Members prostituting themselves for positions of power.

“Why are these Reps waiting until the very last moment to announce their opposition to Boehner?”

My guess is that they’re keeping their cards close to the vest, so that the leadership couldn’t plan ahead. I hope that Cruz is helping them coordinate

Trust me R_D 232; there have been “goings on” behind closed doors for weeks. The momentum is with the “Dump Boehner” movement right now. This is the time to peak and it’s happening. We only need 30 Pubbies to vote for anyone but Boehner to keep him from getting the 218 votes needed, on the first ballot. This thing is doable. Let’s work our butts off today to keep the phone lines, to every Congress Critter in D.C., ringing off the hook.

That's exactly my point. Most, if not all, of those just arriving campaigned as constitutional conservatives. Independents and even crossover dems voted for them because their campaign rhetoric was to go to DC, get rid of the likes of Boehner, NOT compromise on the very issues Boehner sold them out on before they even got to DC.

If they can't do that one small thing...keeping their first promise....they're WORSE than Dems. Why? They've taken an HOR seat from someone who might actually have been a constitutional conservative and meant the promises that got so many elected.

My fingers are burning the keyboard, I'm so fed up. We shouldn't give these newcomers or for that matter anyone who campaigned hard for the conservative vote even a whiff of an excuse if they traitor us. I repeat, those that do are WORSE THAN DEMS. That's because that would mean they bare-*ssed lied to get conservative votes and stole an HOR seat from a true conservative.

Grrrr.....

You won’t get any argument out of me. If the newly elected Congress critters can’t run with the big-dogs, then stay on the frickin’ porch and we will Primary you in 2016.
