Steve King: I Will Not Vote for Boehner as Speaker
breitbart.com ^ | 1/4/15 | Stephen King

Posted on 01/04/2015 6:46:10 PM PST by cotton1706

This week, Members elected to the 114th Congress will rise, place their left hand on the Bible, raise their right hand and state,

“I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I will take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion, and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.”

This oath does not say, “I will support and defend the … United States…” Our oath is a specific requirement to swear, “I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States…” President Obama has repeatedly plunged our nation into a constitutional crisis. No past president has so cavalierly violated his own oath and through naked political calculation, willfully violated the Constitution. When a president does violence to our Constitution, those who also take an oath to our Constitution have an absolute duty to defend it. We need a Speaker of the House who carries in his bones the conviction of our oath.

At each crisis point of conflict between President Obama and Congress, we have been admonished by our Speaker to take the high road, to pick our battles, to wait for a better time to fight on better ground. As a product of hook, crook, and legislative shenanigan, ObamaCare was passed. The American voters elected 87 Freshmen Republicans to the House of Representatives, every one pledged to repeal ObamaCare.

Courage breeds courage. Once a few brave souls stand up the ripple effect can be forceful.

***
And we voters need to call their offices to keep goading them.

Honestly I think nobody likes standing alone. I’ve done it a few times and its unpleasant. I don’t regret it though.

These guys like Gohmert may not be pledging their lives and fortunes but they sure are pledging their committee assignments for sure. If Boehner wins he will take revenge.

” Many of us tried telling people. We gave them facts. We showed them charts. We showed them the very words of the founders.

They all knew better. No matter what. It was lesser evil.”

Well, after 20 years of “lesser”, it ain’t “lesser” anymore, is it?

Now, it is just generic, plain-wrap EVIL.

You've got your "Kings" mixed up. Peter King from NY is a liberal RINO who will vote for Boner.

Steve King from Iowa is a conservative Repub and will not vote for Boner. Read the article again and get your "Kings" properly identified.

Do you realize the article is talking about Steve King from Iowa, not liberal Peter King from NY?

You mean Stephen King, that whacked out liberal from Maine who writes all those sick twisted horror stories?

Oh, I see my mistake. I said: We'll Boner's ship has sunk when Pete King says he's not voting for him."

I meant to say: "We'll know Boner's ship has sunk when Pete King says he's not voting for him." I left out a word.

I'm well aware of the two Kings in the House. I hope this clears it up, thanks.

Thanks for your concern but I know precisely the difference between the 2 Kings. I was posting a theoretical statement that if the odd chance that “Pete” King was to vote against Boehner then he is really in trouble.

Ok, well I am glad you clarified your statement. However, since the article in Breitbart was actually the written statement of Steve King, it had nothing to do at all with Peter King. It looks like others interpreted this thread to be about Peter King instead of Steve King as well.

I agree with your statement about Boner's ship sinking if Peter King comes out against him, but on the other hand, you could say the same thing about the other 200 or so Repub congress critters who also will vote for Boner, and it will take an act of God for them to vote against Boner.

But that is not what the article or thread was about.

It's kind of a crazy theoretical statement to make concerning liberal RINO Peter King, since the article & thread was solely about conservative Repub Steve King (IA), and had nothing to do with Peter King.

You could say the same thing about the other 200 or so Repub congress critters as you said about Peter King who will vote for Boner as well, except for an act of God.

It was a play on the name KING and that there is both a liberal and a conservative with the same last name which is ironic.
