Trust me; there have been many “closed door meetings” going on for weeks. Gohmert knows he has support going in or he’d never have announced.
He’d look like - and be - a pretty weak speaker if the ‘opposing’ party was the one that got him in.
Anyone would be embarrassed to take the speakership that way, one would hope.

Ha; it didn’t seem to bother Thad Cochran, in the least, to win his Senate seat in MS with help from the opposing party. Most politicians have no conscience or morals.

Agreed. This has been brewing. Likely Ted Cruz and Mike Lee are coaching them behind closed doors. Courage is contagious.
The look on gohmert’s face the night of the Cromnibus vote was a thunderhead. He outright called Boehner a Democrat on Fox.
