In many ways, this is 2 Timothy 4:3 in action.

Journalists want to appear to be compassionate, and think that compassion will spare them when tyranny in in place.

I’m not familiar with the current situation, but for decades Germany used Turks as a cheaper unskilled working class.

While there is no denying the fact (unskilled workers then, and, sadly, now in the third or fourth generation) there's some historical background how that came about that needs to be mentioned.

The request to hire Turkish workers came from the Turkish military regime back in 1960 or so. Germany itself had no interest to hire Turkish workers (having already admitted many guest workers from southern Europe - Italy, Greece, Spain - and it was the tail end of the Wirtschaftswunder, the after-WWII economic recovery), but the Turkish economy was in the dumps, and prodded by the US - cold war strategic interests - Germany had to relent. The agreement with Turkey - which was terminated in 1973, at which time about 500,000 to 750,000 Turks were in Germany - stipulated a two-year-turnaround, but at some point that disintegrated and Turks were allowed to stay longer and, critically, allowed to bring their families. Chain migration ensued, and that led to the mess of today - with about ten times the 1973 number of Turks in Germany.

Here's a good account of the whole matter, in German, but you can run it through Google translate to get the gist, I suppose (not mine, but I should translate it to coherent English sometime for future use):

How twisted it all is. I want leaders like Merkel to explain why, in the early 20th century, foreigners were not accepted in society much until they learned the language, and assimilated, meaning that the immigrants were highly motivated to learn. My grandparents came to the USA as stateless (German) Jews after the Holocaust, and met with other similar couples in their 40s to play Scrabble in English one evening a week, all with their english-german dictionaries out. The immigrants had to try and fit in. Earlier, there had been signs on factory doors, Irish / Italians etc. Need Not Apply.

Now the LOCALS have to bend over backwards to cater to the foreigners’ own cultures, foods, and language?? Or be called racist? The worst epithet in the entire world, it seems. Bill Cosby probably prefers being known as a serial rapist to being called a racist for preferring white girls as victims. That’s how bad it’s gotten.

Even today those Turks don’t have citizenship.

One thing in their favor was that modern Turkish used the german alphabet (with umlauts and such).

Some do, some don't. Many are eligible after living in the country for a long time, but not all want German citizenship.

The Schröder regime changed the law a decade or so ago that those born in Germany to Turkish et al parents are automatically granted dual citizenship - a stupid thing to do, but that's the left's agenda as always.

I don’t know if it is stupid; some have been there for decades, and are no longer “Turkish” in any meaningful sense. At least before giving them citizenship, Germany has them contributing to the common good (or at least keeps them off the dole, as I understand it). Amnesty advocates here want us to believe the illegls will kick in, but there is no reason to believe that.

In my town there was an ObamaCare billboard advertising (in Spanish) that “You could qualify for a subsidy”...

I just don’t understand immigrating to Europe anyways. In the US, a nation made up of mostly European immigrants, it makes sense, but why are all these Third World people immigrating to Europe, which, according to the ancestry of a particular country, is going to lose its homogeny—and its very REASON to BE a separate country—to immigration, especially if the immigrants refuse to assimilate.

Take the Irish for example, millions of them migrated to the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, which made sense as these were immigrant-taking and needing countries. But when I was in Dublin last, I saw many, many Africans working there. Surely Ireland has no tradition of black slavery like the US does?!

And no one should say its because these poor people are immigrating because they’re so poor they haven’t a choice! The rich countries should rather be a model for poorer to emulate, not made into the cesspool from which they came!

You don’t see rich countries like Dubai or Japan allowing Europeans to migrate there, do you? Plenty of rich Middle Eastern oil countries, but they discriminate against Christians openly and systematically, and no one on the Left bats an eye... Do ask to limit Islam in Germany, however, and they scream like the Third Reich is being reborn!

Sadly men are quite susceptible, too. Especially in the leftist enclaves.
