For a moment I broke out in a sweat! Benton County in Washington state, not Benton County in Arkansas!

Human infections with avian influenza viruses are rare and most often occur after people are in contact with an infected bird. However, non-sustained person-to-person spread of other avian influenza viruses is thought to have occurred in the past, most notably with avian influenza A (H5N1) viruses.

Unfortunately, this article gives very little information, and I was not able to find much on Google, either.

It would be very nice to know *which* bird flu is involved.

Some of them do not have a potential to infect humans. Others do, but there is a wide range of severity of the disease.

Bring out your dead! The Dark Man cometh! Bring out your dead! The Dark Man cometh! Bring out your......

(Since all records of obama's past were lost in a tragic boating accident and fire, no one can be certain that the guy in the red circle isn't him...)

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

FWIW, elderberry extract has been shown to work against a number of different flu viruses. And several other viruses as well. It can be found in the cough drop section under the name Sambucol.

One every 3 hours for an active infection, or once a day as a preventative. I started taking them when I was studying herbal antivirals and caught a cold. It knocked the cold down to 4 days where mine usually take twice that. And, since I've been taking it once a day, I've been the only one in my office not to catch the flu that's been making its rounds.

Next summer I plan to brew my own from the elderberries on my land, but for now the store-bought kind will do.
