**SNIP**

The children, most of them less than 7 years old, were ferried to the city's police stations, where they had to spend the night. At one crowded city beach, 35 children were handed in, according to authorities.

South African's reacted with shock on social media.

"I am battling to understand, how do you lose a child on a beach? And you still go home? It is sad," tweeted one Cape Town resident with the Twitter handle WaMputhi. "If I travelled with a child, I will not leave without him/her even if it means no sleep searching," he added in another tweet.

Some 70 of them hadn't been collected by parents by the end of New Year's Day, according to a Cape Town municipal official, although some reports put the number of unclaimed children as high as 100.

I wonder if that affects the amount of free loot placed on the parent's EBT card.

That’s sad. Some of these kids will never forget this New Years week of feeling abandoned. is something bigger going on? Are little girls less interested in playing mom these days, and thus don’t develop an early sense of Maternal concerns? I don’t know how to explain the guys also ‘forgetting’, except perhaps some of them have never been entrusted with very much responsibility about anything, let alone a child.

It takes an African village to raise a child.

FWIW, when Jesus was 12 his family misplaced him for three days.

Very politically out on a limb, I wonder what the racial breakdown is?

I guess this is a growing problem. Our local beaches (North East Florida) you take your child to a lifeguard station and they put a wrist band on the child with a parents contact number so if you find a kid wandering at the beach the lifguard or police can contact the parent and let them know where to pick up the kid. It’s amazing we have gone that far down the responsibility department.

1. Consider the fact that race is not mentioned in article. 2. Look at the picture in post #4

I wouldn’t take MYSELF to a jungle of people like that - let alone small children, especially with water in the mix

It looks like Sandy Hook in NJ (near the top of the shore, and closest to the urban areas); it is well worth it to drive a few more minutes south, pay a couple of more dollars, and have a pleasant experience.

Isn't that the beach where all those great white sharks like to hang out and eat seals?

Hey, sharks got to eat, too!

This sounds more like abandonment and not a “lost child” to me.

How the hell does one “lose” a child? Is this some mass kidnapping or something? And I didn’t think black people cared for beaches, at least not Americna blacks?

Jesus wasn’t very contrite, though.

“Why were you searching for me?” he asked. “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?”

Watching a child is a full time habit that only mothers can do properly.

Feminist moms rely on other people who can’t/won’t learn the habit.

So, bad things happen to kids.
