Rapidly Warming Oceans Set to Release Heat into the Atmosphere{Prophets of Global Warming}
Scientific American ^ | Dec. 30, 2014 | By John Upton and Climate Central

The seas have stored most of the excess heat generated by greenhouse gases since 2000, but they are due to send it back skyward December 30, 2014 |By John Upton and Climate Central

Probing a blue abyss can be an abysmal recipe for the blues.

For every 10 joules of energy that our greenhouse gas pollution traps here on Earth, about 9 of them end up in an ocean. There, the effects of global warming bite into fisheries, ecosystems and ice. But those effects are largely imperceptible to humans—as invisible to a landlubber as an albatross chomping on a baited hook at the end of a long line.

What scientists discovered in 2014 is that since the turn of the century, oceans have been absorbing more of global warming’s heat and energy than would normally be expected, helping to slow rates of warming on land. What they will be talking about in 2015, and beyond, is when that trend might come to an end—likely following a routine shift in Pacific Ocean trade winds. Much of that extra sunken heat will eventually be belched back into the atmosphere by the overheating seas. The effects of ocean warming might be imperceptible to most of us, but they are far-reaching. They are driving fishing fleets further out to sea, ushering tropical fish into polar waters, and worsening flood hazards for coastal communities.

This is such palpable nonsense.

The thermal capacity of water is quite well known. BTW, if they did not expect an observable effect, then their foolish models are hereafter invalid.

scientists and governments are only just starting to grasp in meaningful ways. government? says it all.

The most obvious symptom of over heated oceans has been the unusually violent hurricane seasons. Er, well, we think the hurricanes are happening under water and will “invert” to the atmosphere on Dec 30, 2014 — exactly. They may seem invisible to warming deniers, but that is what makes them especially dangerous. The invisible inverted underwater hurricanes have already cost trillions of dollars in publicity expenses, and are expected to cost trillions more in taxes. An invisible inverted underwater hurricane czar will be appointed as soon as enough golf reservations can be made for the appointing committee.

Next on the agenda is to blame our population on tectonic plate shifts

Oh, come on, now. Really.

Everyone knows the reason for the 'ring of fire' is all those people living on the coasts pushing down on the mantle and making volcanoes.

(Yes, I am kidding, and I even typed it with a straight face.)

"I really hope you demanded a pro rata refund."

I shared my opinion with them (never printed, although it was printable), then I heated my house with subsequent editions.

What a disappointment.

I don't know of any dead from Global Warming, but the death toll from this Ebola outbreak is over 7,000 and will probably hit 10,000 before this outbreak is contained.

If anything, The Dems didn't want people to know how they had messed up, so new tsar and the news dried up overnight.

It is still happening, there is news out there, just not so prominent in the US MSM because AP pretty much shut up about it.

Another minor detail — How did all of that heat manage to sink into the deepest parts of the oceans without having warmed the upper portions of them?

This garbage is so easily disproved by real scientists. In fact things are just the opposite.

They have to answer for where all this heat they talk about is hiding, so they seize upon the only place we cannot go, and claim that it is there.
