Can I ask a stupid question? Why does this story say the cops were allegedly assaulted? In the Michael Brown case, Trayvon, Eric Garner, etc. The media report that they were actually shot not allegedly. In the case of the woman in Oklahoma who was beheaded by a Muslim, the media reported that she was allegedly beheaded.
Why in some cases do the media report that something allegedly occurred but in other cases report something as a fact. I had always thought the term allegedly was used when someone had not been convicted in a court of law. But obviously I don’t understand the circumstances under which they use these terms in their stories.
