1. Kel-Tec does not make any Kel-Tec .38 semi-automatic handguns. They *do* make .380 ACP handguns, but there’s a big difference between .38 Special and .380 ACP. The journalist didn’t make it.
2. The journalist was probably told that the man being persecuted by MD police had a CCW and had a Kel-Tec. He then *assumed* the MD cops were looking specifically for that Kel-Tec when there’s no way for those officers to know what weapon he carries - Florida does not register guns nor are their CCW records linked to any specific firearm. The latter is an NYC specific thing.

I’m CCW in FLA. There is no specific license for guns. The writer knew from discussions with Fillipidis what kind of gun he had and included it in the article.
