POPE: UN MUST FIGHT 'GLOBAL WARMING'

He has been called the “superman pope”, and it would be hard to deny that Pope Francis has had a good December. Cited by President Barack Obama as a key player in the thawing relations between the US and Cuba, the Argentinian pontiff followed that by lecturing his cardinals on the need to clean up Vatican politics. But can Francis achieve a feat that has so far eluded secular powers and inspire decisive action on climate change?

It looks as if he will give it a go. In 2015, the pope will issue a lengthy message on the subject to the world’s 1.2 billion Catholics, give an address to the UN general assembly and call a summit of the world’s main religions.

The reason for such frenetic activity, says Bishop Marcelo Sorondo, chancellor of the Vatican’s Pontifical Academy of Sciences, is the pope’s wish to directly influence next year’s crucial UN climate meeting in Paris, when countries will try to conclude 20 years of fraught negotiations with a universal commitment to reduce emissions.

“Our academics supported the pope’s initiative to influence next year’s crucial decisions,” Sorondo told Cafod, the Catholic development agency, at a meeting in London. “The idea is to convene a meeting with leaders of the main religions to make all people aware of the state of our climate and the tragedy of social exclusion.”

Following a visit in March to Tacloban, the Philippine city devastated in 2012 by typhoon Haiyan, the pope will publish a rare encyclical on climate change and human ecology. Urging all Catholics to take action on moral and scientific grounds, the document will be sent to the world’s 5,000 Catholic bishops and 400,000 priests, who will distribute it to parishioners.

“An economic system centred on the god of money needs to plunder nature to sustain the frenetic rhythm of consumption that is inherent to it.

All of man's productive activities have the inherent tendency to improve his environment.Productive activities result in the movement of previously unused natural resources in ways that improve human life and well-being, which means that there is an overall improvement in the external, material conditions of his life, which means his overall environment.

It is only from the perspective of the alleged intrinsic value of nature and the nonvalue of man, can man's improvement of his environment be termed destruction of the environment.

One Way, One Mediator and it isn’t Mary.

John The Baptist was greater than her and I can prove that statement.

(Agreeing with you)

"One Way, One Mediator and it isn’t Mary."

John The Baptist was greater than her and I can prove that statement."

Good stuff. And, you are correct, John was greater than Mary. But, that doesn't stop the Romanists.

And they had some character, some taste, some humility, some intelligence. I could go on.

We are being punished.

I know. Just in the last few days, a couple of them were so intent on denying Mary the title “Mother of God” that they denied the divinity of Christ.

They are blinded by burning hate for Mary, and Catholics.

They claim that her prayers are efficacious. The Catholic Church has always taught that all grace and all possibility of salvation is due entirely to the death and resurrection of Christ.

I am well aware of many extravagant, purple passages about Mary in Catholic devotional literature. That is not where the teaching of the Catholic Church has been enunciated.

Have you not yet learned the press lies about this Pope’s statements?

Prove it or at least cite evidence.

This pope is a communist Jesuit...always was.

Give us the proof this pope is not a communist (he has given us much that proves he is).

Cite something substantial or at least believable.

No reason the Pope can’t speak clearly if he thinks he’s being misrepresented. Has the Pope ever publicly announced that that he’s being misrepresented?

Let the UN fight global warming, as long as they leave me and my compatriots alone. Also, I would just as soon the pope leave me alone, too. Where is a mind like Ratzinger when you need him?

“Mother of God” is the ancient title of Semiramis, thus proving that the catholic’s “Mary” is just another proxy of Ishtar (Easter).

Oh grow up!

Have you not seen the headlines asserting the Pope said:
“Dogs go to Heaven”?
or that he was going to relax the rules on the divorced receiving the Sacraments?

Neither were true and there has been a lie a month since he became Pope.

Amen E-S.

Mary worship is the syncretistic worship of Semiramis, Diana, Athena, Isis...

It is the fulfillment of the ancient human hunger for worship of the goddess (which is Demon worship BTW).

Beloved Mary just happened to be in the right place at the right time for the Catholic Church to use her to its advantage.

Gee Larry...I didn't take too seriously the Pope's "all dogs go to Heaven" statement...though I do agree that they do. And cats do too.

I am pretty grown up...but can always use pointers as to how to keep growing.;-)

I don’t think the Pope should be involving himself in something like this. If he wishes to tell the flock to do their best to be good citizens, I don’t have a problem with it. His views are important to his people. I don’t think he should try to drive public policy.

The information on this is just too spotty. There’s no consensus that the planet is doing anything other than just what it always has.

It’s unfortunate for him to have done this IMO.

As an aside.

This Pope is a communist who hates freedom and free markets.

He is stupid beyond belief. About par for a Communist Jesuit.

But he's your Pope.
