tangibly, what have you seen in the last 10 years to back your point. I know of only one incident/action. ONE.

I’d say Starboard is a lot closer to the truth than many men really want to admit. It’s easy talk about “behind the scenes” actions because they cannot be proven. My proof is paying attention everyday to how common people deal with the explosive destruction of our Country.

I hope you are right dontreadthis, but hope hasn’t been doing much lately. The longer evil goes unchecked, the more impossible the ability to defeat it.

What kind of BONEHEAD comment will Biden spew?

I wonder if the victims’ families were given any choice in the matter?

if there is a country where it could happen in our lifetimes, it would be our country:

dontreadthis, these are good conversations to have as long as they stay civil (not saying that there has been anything uncivil here).

Good men need to be talking about this everyday. We need some anger. Anyone man who is happy and A-OK with what’s going on today is selfish and probably has no wife and/or kids to be concerned about.

IMO, churches need to be discussing the issues that are destroying our Country. And specifics. Not just generic “sin”.

What happened to the ‘Biden Address’ thread? Pulled?

I was going to comment on Amendment 25, where the President gets to appoint a successor, if the VP dies or is unable to perform duties. Congress approves...many do not realize that, which makes me wonder WHO POSTED BIDEN’S ADDRESS.

The succession of the President dies does not apply...like VP, Speaker, and then Sec of State, etc.

I agree. You are probably aware of this but here it is anyway.

from your link for all here to read.......

When General George Washington asked Lutheran pastor John Peter Muhlenberg to raise a regiment of volunteers, Muhlenberg gladly agreed. Before marching off to join Washington’s army, he delivered a powerful sermon from Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 that concluded with these words: “The Bible tells us there is a time for all things and there is a time to preach and a time to pray, but the time for me to preach has passed away, and there is a time to fight, and that time has come now. Now is the time to fight! Call for recruits! Sound the drums!”

I wonder if the families are concerned about whatever payout they get since the deaths were while on duty. They may be afraid DeBlasio would retaliate if they uninvited him.

They simply should not be allowed to speak. Who has the right to crash a funeral? No one does.

Breitbart reported he was 2 hours late, arriving toward the conclusion of the ceremony?

That wasn’t NYPD officially; it was the officers’ unions. AND it was said before these two officers were killed. The union leaders knew with deBlasio it would not take long to have officers killed in the line of duty.

The NY Post reported he arrived 30 minutes early for the funeral. Fox News, which I was watching, showed him going into the church so I know he wasn’t late.

It was the Friday night wake that Breitbart reorted deBlasio was late for, not the Saturday funeral.

Rest assured, it is not the media conditioning my views; it is personal recognition of some hard realities that are there for all to see. You have to have noticed that the demographics and culture in this country have changed significantly and that our national character is much different today than it was even a decade ago.

Here are just a few observations for your consideration. If you look around you can’t help but notice that society has been dumbed down by our politicized education system and a propaganda spewing liberal media. The level of ignorance today is astounding. Moreover, large segments of the population are distracted by a vulgar pop culture. And we live in a sitcom world where attention spans are short. Anything in depth, thought provoking, or over an hour in length doesn’t sell to the masses. People simply tune out things that they are not interested in, don’t want to see or just don’t like. And even when there is some awareness of important events they are superficially perceived in simplistic ways. There are consequences to stupidity and we are witnessing that on a national level.

I could on and on about the national detachment and disengagement. There are examples aplenty. Even within the Tea Party movement unfortunately. I tried but couldn’t even get people (many of whom see themselves as patriots) off the couch or away from their favorite entertainment for even a few hours to show up at a rally. Many people are living in their own worlds; they have comfortable lifestyles, non-stop entertainment on TV, and endless dining and shopping options. The Roman people also had their bread and circuses and we all know what happened there.

One need not look too far to find signs of deep trouble in River City. Barack Obama was elected not once, but twice! And while his favorability ratings, may have declined during the past year, he is still polling near 50% and amazingly, is at about the same level that Ronald Reagan was at this point in his presidency! To that disturbing point I would also add that Obama has added more to national debt than the previous 43 presidents combined. Houston, we have a problem.

Did you ever in your lifetime think that government control would be so pervasive in our country? I didn’t. But here we are. There are, of course, people who are concerned about this and the general deterioration of our country but they are way outnumbered by the legions of ignorati and the dependent “takers”.

You may see me as a pessimist. But I am just recognizing the depth of the disturbing realities surrounding us. The good ole US of A just ain’t the same place it used to be. (Many polls reflect this view incidentally.) I could easily go on and on to substantiate that point. The frog is definitely being boiled. Just look at the pervasiveness of government control over nearly every aspect of our lives, and its rapidly getting worse. Rational people (as you put it) have a very steep mountain to climb to convince a largely passive populace to rise up and turn things around.

Hopefully we’ll see some beneficial political changes in 2015. Happy New Year.

naw, you are just a realist.

I am one of those you might say is sitting on the couch. Tried to get others to see what I see. Elijah in the Bible thought he was the only one left, but God told him there were 7 thousand others, Elijah just didn’t see them.

One of the tenets of conservatism is understanding human nature. One of tenets is most people don’t do things until they have to. They will take the easiest path.

So what do we do? There are many things.

1) Find people of like mind, you are not going to convert people. Most people don’t change. Starting to believe the only way someone changes is with God’s sprit. I am finding warriors but they are few.

2) Be faithful in little things. Sounds familiar also? The little conversations, statements, actions will make the difference. Sometimes I still want to run the artillery but then reality sets in.

3)Mental rehearsal. When the time comes, you don’t have to think, you can act. I often think of my uncle on Iwo Jima. For a year it was “up the beach and to the left” and that was all they knew. When they got there they under stood, there was Mt Suribachi and the training took over.

4)Study history - this has all happened before, it is not new.

5) Read the Bible..........................

thanks for your thoughtful reply and Happy New Year to you and all of us as well.
I agree with everything you wrote.
No, I do not see you as a pessimist. You sound like me. I have had the same issues trying to get people off their couches. Realists sound like pessimists, and optimists are delusional these days.
What keeps me interested is knowing that nothing stays the same, it doesn’t take a majority, and that the right leader can make all the difference.
