So much effort to claim "Jesus never existed" while supporting Islam can so easily be proved nonsense by the statistical analysis of Islam.

Over 60% of the qu'ran, hadith and Sira are devoted to the treatment of non-muslims. 37% of the Hadith (traditions), 81% of the Sira and 64% of the qu'ran is devoted to treatment of the "People of the Book (Bible)" [both Christians and Jews]. See:

Roman historians would disagree with Salon. To claim there is no definite proof Jesus existed is to claim there is no proof any Roman Caesar existed. Can we prove without a doubt any Pharaoh existed?

If a person believes that Mohammed was a real person and that the Koran exist, then it is ridiculous for that person, like the Salon writer, to argue that Jesus DID NOT exist.

I'm christian. But I have studied the Koran for many years as I would a college textbook,say, on American history, so I am very familiar with many basic beliefs in the Koran.

The Koran repeatedly talks about Jesus. In fact, Mary, Jesus' mother, is written about in her own surah/chapter in the Koran, and so Mary has a very special place in Muslim beliefs.

My point is this: If the Salon writer says that Mohammad was a real person and that the Koran is divinely inspired, then he must also agree that Jesus was a real person, because the Koran says that Jesus and his mother Mary were real persons.

I have to tell you that your post at #42 is quite insightful.

Thank you.

I marvel that lies have become ubiquitous and are so readily embraced by so many; even those who profess to be Christians.

Your mention of a "spiritual marker" is also telling and I think a concept that needs additional edification. Our lives are bombarded w/ information and its often difficult to separate the trivial from the profound. Identifying the spiritual marker in people and things can, I think, be a useful exercise.

Of course one needs to be cautious in its application and prayerful that we stay on the right path, but its something I intend to study on.

I can find you 100 other PhD guys that will tell you another story. There are other PhD guys that can show you more than 2000 revisional differences. Most of them are spelling of just a few words. Sometimes it may be a case of where there is not a good direct translation of a word from Greek to English. There are reasons and I’ve read numerous books that address such and it is truly insignificant.

By the way, what is the name of the book?
