Satanic Display at Florida Capitol Damaged
ABC News ^ | December 23,2014 | BRENDAN FARRINGTON

Posted on 12/23/2014 10:50:35 PM PST by balch3

Susan Hemeryck, 54, tried removing the display Tuesday, and when the Capitol Police told her she couldn't, she began ripping it apart. She was arrested and charged with criminal mischief. The display had been erected as a satire by an atheist group to counter a nativity scene, which was taken down the day the Satanic Temple installed theirs.

"It's just wrong, when you remove baby Jesus two days before Christmas and put Satan in his place ? that just can't happen. I couldn't allow it to happen," said Hemeryck, who said she was wearing a shirt that said "Catholic Warrior" when she arrived at the Capitol. "I was there at the right time and the right moment and I needed to take a stand against Satan."

Atheist groups last year began taking advantage of the Capitol's free speech zone after a Christian group installed a manger scene showing the birth of Jesus. The display last year included a Festivus pole in tribute to a holiday created on "Seinfeld" that satirizes the commercialism of Christmas and a display by the Church of The Flying Spaghetti Monster, which mocks beliefs that a god created the universe and argues instead that the universe was created by a plate of pasta and meatballs.

The Satanic Temple display was rejected as "grossly offensive" last year, but this year ? following threats of legal action from the Americans United for Separation of Church and State ? the state Department of Management Services gave its approval.

It would be entirely appropriate and demonstrative of humanity’s need for Christ to have the Satanists and pretend-atheists and whomever else cares to join in the mockery arrange their displays around a representation of Jesus on a cross.

You think it DOESN'T happen? Here are homofascists and their partners in corporate America turning the Last Supper into a leatherboy party with an array of sex toys.

And that same year/party there were BDSM flagellation's on the steps of a church in SF.

And here's atheist Penn Jillette's Vegas stunt:

Penn & Teller ridicule Christ's crucifixion (WorldNetDaily ^ | Posted: January 20, 2003)

...The skit, performed last week in Las Vegas, included Teller, dressed as Christ on a full-size cross, entering the room on a cart. According to the column, a midget dressed as an angel "performed a simulated sex act on the near-naked Teller." Penn, in a Roman gladiator costume, unveiled the scene by pulling away a "Shroud of Turin" that covered the cross.

A group of people attending the event, billed as a roast of magician Amazing Johnathan, walked out in protest, says Clarke.

According to Rick Neiswonger, a longtime magician and marketing executive, said "the majority" of the 400 who attended the roast were offended.

"They (organizers) warned everybody that something offensive was going to happen, but my God, where do you draw the line? … This was beyond bad taste," Neiswonger told the Review....

Amazing Johnathan told the Review he was aware that a number of what he called "gospel magicians" walked out of the performance. "This was performance art," said Johnathan. "I know that Penn is a practicing atheist, and I agree with him that Christianity can be dangerous. Look at the Trade Center. That was done in the name of religion."

Wise up Susan, be more stealthy.

Gee... I never looked at that line "Character is doing the right thing when nobody's looking" from J.C. Watt's convention speech that way... but it works in your suggested scenario.

So the Satanist display is damaged. Do Satanists have a problem with chaos and destruction?

No it wasn't. It was erected as a direct attack on Christianity, God, and His Son.

Look up in the Bible how many times God condemns Israel for putting up Asherah poles and other displays that are "Evil in my sight."

God also praises those Kings of Israel who cut them all down and burned them.

In America today, we have this garbage:

Which looks exactly like to me an Asherah pole. Yes, I have seen the Seinfeld episode - but it is beyond a 1990's comedy sketch that people are focusing their lives around these things 20 years later.

And in Michigan, the Satanists put their evil display up right next to the Nativity scene. Again, it wasn't "satire", but an attack.

I would love to be on her jury. I would give her an award. About time Christians stopped being doormats for atheists.

Atheists have the right to not believe anything they want. Christmas is a celebration of the birth of Jesus. Perhaps the thin-skinned radical atheists could celebrate their own holiday and leave the Christians alone. But that isn’t what they want. They are only interested in destroying what is dear to Christians.

I applaud Susan. I would like to think I could have done the same thing, but I really don’t know.

"I prefer separation of state and church."

I prefer Jefferson's context of Church and State where the Church should be protected against bribery by the State and the people are allowed the freedom of open debate in public; not the modern day Hugo Black interpretation which I take it you subscribe to.

Now THIS is how to do it!

As a Wesleyan; I should have gonads as large as this very brave lady!

Where can I get the t-shirt!?

Well, at least this person did it the right way; out in the open and ready to accept the consequences, which is the hallmark of civil disobedience.

I seem to recall a story about a man who created a whip and committed very public assault and battery against some folks in a church courtyard..

The State forced it. The day they allowed the offensive display to be erected.

Some lighter fluid and a match would have gotten the job done, I’m advised Satan likes fire so what’s the beef?

Back when I was in the Navy and on the ship I was assigned to the Fire Dept. We had one guy a satanist who liked to hold rituals at his rack. Fire ritual actually.

Christians are wrong to dismiss them as "what can they hurt" types. Satan is as real as GOD and has demonic powers which are real as well. Allowance and tolerance of satanism is giving it permission. It is opening the door.

GOD didn't tolerate it or overlook it. Examples including Israel at the foot of Mt Sinai and before that the inhabitants of Sodom and Gomorrah. It brought destruction. Coexisting {tolerance] with satanism is not only wrong but spiritually it is dangerous. Christians are warned not to be deceived.

No you don’t.*

Exactly!
