Every valley shall be exalted,
and every hill be made low;
.and the crooked shall be made straight,
and the rough places plain;
and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed,
and all flesh shall see it together.
Isaiah 40: 4-5

KEYWORDS: america; heroes; military; pray
Holy God,
You reveal Your glory to us every day, but sometimes we are not paying attention. Who can rise up out of bed and behold the sun without considering the suns Maker? Who can look at the face of a newborn baby and not wonder at the intricate beauty of the Creator? Lord, may Your glory be revealed to us each and every day, and may we behold Your glory. Help us to end this constant focus on things of this world and consider You and Your heavens---the work of Your fingers and hands. Lord, remind us of the amazing power of Your love for us, and the eternal Gift of our Savior.
Lord, help our military men and women and all our first responders to put their trust in You alone. During this time in history when they may feel little support from their nation, help them to know that You are there for them always----even unto the end of the age. You will never leave them nor forsake them. You will strengthen them, You will help them, You will uphold them with Your righteous right hand.
Father, return all of us to You. Help us to forget about the wrapping paper and the ribbons and bows, the cookies, the trimmings on the tree. Help us to remember You during this Christmas season, Lord. You are the only One worthy of our praise and our focus. As You reveal Your glory unto us, please help us to receive the blessing of paying attention to You. And may Your Name be glorified both now and evermore. Jesus, Lord of All. Amen.

Praying your beautiful prayer with you, Faith. Amen
Almighty and Eternal God, . Protect our military as
they discharge their duties. Protect them with the shield
of your strength and keep them safe from all evil and
harm.
May the power of your love enable them to return home
safely to the people who love them and to the gratitude
of the American people..
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Christmas Blessings To All

Just The Right Time
The conductor stood on the podium, his eyes scanning the choir and orchestra. The singers arranged the music in their folders, found a comfortable position for standing, and held the folder where they could see the conductor just over the top. Orchestra members positioned their music on the stand, found a comfortable position in their seats, and then sat still. The conductor waited and watched until everyone was ready. Then, with a downbeat of his baton, the sounds of Handels Overture to Messiah filled the cathedral.
With the sound swirling around me, I felt I was immersed in Christmaswhen God, at just the right moment, signaled the downbeat and set in motion an overture that started with the birth of the Messiah, the High Priest of the good things to come (Heb. 9:11).
Every Christmas, as we celebrate Christs first coming with glorious music, Im reminded that Gods people, like choir and orchestra members, are getting ready for the next downbeat of the conductor when Christ will come again. On that day, we will participate with Him in the final movement of Gods symphony of redemptionmaking all things new (Rev. 21:5). In anticipation, we need to keep our eyes on the conductor and make sure we are ready.
Sound the soul-inspiring anthem,
Angel hosts, your harps attune;
Earths long night is almost over,
Christ is comingcoming soon! Macomber
The advent of Christ celebrates His birth and anticipates His return.

Many thanks for the link. I love the Messiah-—grew up singing it and even now it becomes more meaningful every year. Merry Christmas!

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR OUR AMERICAN HEROES AND FOR OUR BELOVED NATION!

Gen. George Washington and his Troops Marching To Valley Forge December 1775 |
GEN. GEORGE WASHINGTON THE PRAYER AT VALLEY FORGE
"Let Tyrants Shake Their Iron Rod" William Billings Mixed District Choir, Fairfax, Virginia (Click)
IN THE COLDEST and darkest days of the American Revolution, General George Washington raised his prayers for the survival of his beleaguered Army and of the new Nation. The Lord answered his prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting Glory, and bestowed His Manifold Blessings upon the new Nation.

FROM THE BRAVE, albeit weary, ill-equipped, and untrained volunteers who marched into Valley Forge on 19 December 1777 arose, with the help of some gallant friends from across the waves, the cohesive fighting force that became the United States Army, global defender of Freedom and scourge of Tyrants.
AS GENERAL WASHINGTON lifted his prayers on high in that bleak Winter, let our prayers now rise like a fountain for our Heroes in the American Armed Forces who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and gather them in the shelter of Your Healing Wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission. Through Jesus Christ, Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.

HEAVENLY FATHER, Lord of the Nations, unto Your Divine Mercy we commend the souls of these valiant men and women who have fallen in the service of our Beloved Nation and in defense of the Freedoms we hold dear. We pray that You gather them in Your Loving Embrace, that You cause Your Countenance to shine upon them, and that You vouchsafe their souls to dwell eternally in Your Divine Presence. Through Jesus Christ Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.

My daughter's high school sings Part the First (plus "Hallelujah") every year in "sing along" style - anybody who wants to can climb up on the stage with their Barenreiter or Novello score and have at it (although it's tacitly assumed that you can deliver if you step up).
It is tons of fun. Did it every year she was in school and still do it every year she's at home for Christmas.
And we had bunches of it for her wedding - our music director (who can play anything - and I do mean anything, you can't stump him) played improvisations on themes from the Messiah for her processional, and we all sang the "Hallelujah" for the recessional.

How wonderful that your daughter’s high school exposes students to the finest, and what grand music to include in her wedding! Christmas without the Messiah just wouldn’t be the same-—both literally and figuratively. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

And a very merry Christmas to you too!
She was married last December, so it was a very Christmasy sort of wedding. She wore her maternal grandmother's 1951 wedding gown (which I wore as well at my wedding), and although Mom was already fighting the cancer that eventually took her life, she was able to attend and enjoy her granddaughter's wedding to the hilt. Music and all - hubby & I sing in the choir so the whole choir showed up and we really put on the dog - Henry Purcell's "Bell Anthem" as a choral prelude, a psalm composed by our music director (SO lovely), Hans Leo Hassler's "Dixit Maria", Palestrina "Sicut cervus", and a complete Mozart Mass setting, the Spaurmesse in C major (except for the Credo which we omitted cause it's LONG and will wear your choir out). Plus the occasional music . . . it really was top flight (the rector got a little irritated because there was so MUCH music, but it didn't kill him and one of his vicars did the wedding anyway . .. )
Btw, son is a U.S. Marine w/ two tours overseas, & I know he appreciates all your prayers.
