Hours after their deaths, police unions and certain conservative allies are taking the slayings as deadly confirmation of what they've believed all along: pro-Garner protesters and Mayor Bill de Blasio are abandoning the NYPD at a time when their public perception is at an unprecedented low.
The deaths have turned de Blasio's already-tense relationship with the NYPD into a full-blown crisis, with police unions pointing the finger at the mayor for siding with protesters.
Strong words: The Sergeants Benevolent Association, one of several police union groups that has a rocky history with the mayor, blamed de Blasio directly for the attacks, tweeting:

Must be fun right now for Wilhelm (and his family), knowing that their lives depend upon the armed protection of an NYPD that he hates, which is aware of his hate and now sees his hate of them as being directly responsible for the execution of two of their own.
Bets on how long before he calls in private security to take over his family’s protective detail?
Strong words, huh? Is that like a strongly worded letter from the UN?
dE Blowhard has to go. Just why do the police have to protect him, he supposed to be the most loved man in Ny. Let him go through NYC with no protection than, see how long that lasts. But de Blasio should tender his resignation right now. But electing a communist who hates the police has consequences, but he loves the criminals.
And we’ve seen the military give their leader the silent treatment. Hopefully this will coalesce into something meaningful that will bring us back to the Constitution.
Which finger?
I suspect it’s the middle finger.
Two words would suffice.
Two Words = One Verb and One Pronoun.
Maybe Staties, but I'll bet they don't like Herr Wilhelm any more than the NYPD.

The union backed de Blasio.
Someone needs to remind them of that.
