I'm sure it is in use for something in development or already in play.

There is a problem in that a construction project takes several years, from planning through to finally finishing.

If other plans change, it is hard to change construction plans that are already budgeted and enacted.

A compounder is that Congress is not good on long-term planning. They’re too worried about the next election cycle.

It takes only 2 seconds to say “Stop.”
It takes only 2 minutes to write a memo saying “Stop.”

But it also takes an infinite amount of courage to say “We (the government) were wrong.”

This is just the beginning of such nonsense. Moonbeam's chu chu train to nowhere just broke ground in the central valley in Californawaste state. The madness never ends...

This one is on Harry Reid, personally, because he shut down the budget process.

How did this happen? Short story, this is a direct result of his Continuing Resolutions maneuver to protect Obama.

We have had no new budgets so the old line items, like the one that funded this program, must “continued” and funded because no new budget with modifications have been done since 2010.

Many more examples of this waste will surface in the future.

But don’t worry our kids will pay for it. Right?

Because of the way the government works no government minion can legally do this, no not even Obama.

It’s not that easy. The money is already committed, contracts are signed, workers are hired, etc. To simply say “Stop” in the middle of such a project would mean even more expenses in legal fees and so forth stemming from breaking the contracts. In addition, the ripple effect from suddenly halting a long-term construction project would be huge.

I wish it was as easy as you describe. This is a Program of Record and quite simply these are the "Holy Grail" for government workers and contractors. You would have better luck telling the sun not to rise in the east that killing these things.

RT is Russian and they like to belittle NASA.

They think its comical that NASA needs to use their rockets to get to space. They have a point.

The vacuum engine test stand will find use in the future with renewed propulsion development work in the US both public and private. J2 is not the only engine that can be tested there.

While that may not be the most satisfactory answer to economy minded people, the fact is that its a lot more useful to the US then handing out cash to illegals or urban couch potatoes plotting their next police massacre.

Inquiring minds want to know.....where is this "Gulfsport, LA"??

Last I heard, the city of Gulfport was in Mississippi.

Admittedly, it ain't very far from Louisiana, but is not part of the state.

And nobody will be reprimanded, nobody will go to jail, etc.

Pfft, what’s $350,000,000? A mere drop in the bucket.

I spent many, many good times in Gulfport, MS while I was growing up. We frequently would drive from the family farm in central LA and spend long weekends there. Dad was good buddies with the owner of a specific motel, and we always stayed there.
