Anyone who thinks a police strike SOLVES anything just haven't had to LIVE through one.
Cities bend over backwards, and rightly so, to prevent THAT horror. You obviously HAVEN'T lived through a police strike. Lol. Do you REALLY think it would solve ANYTHING? Wow. You MUST be under 30 years old.
Look at the old footage of the L.A. riots. That is a pretty good example of life without the police. Note the Korean store owners up on the roofs of their stores defending themselves and their stores with automatic rifles from the "folks" down below, running amok in the "City of the Angeles," police-less.
It that YOUR idea of a "solution"? I'm sure it isn't.
Call it a case of “You don’t know what you’ve got until it is gone.”
Then maybe the people would appreciate the police more.
Seems a police strike might be the only way for the police to cut short this “pigs are killin’ us! justice now!” meme as it’s starting to cross the line from shouting to murder. The President, US Attorney General, NY Governor (?), NYC Mayor, and lots of other top leadership are turning _hard_ against police in general, stirring up hatred where it absolutely doesn’t belong and stirring up action where it absolutely shouldn’t go. This $#!^ must come to an end NOW, and sometimes making it stop means playing a very deadly game of Chicken.
You got a better idea? Good (if only for lack of any other objective evidence) cops are now being killed, thanks to the black community getting whipped into a frenzy over something that should be way down their outrage list, AND thanks to a religion (yes, the murderer is a Muslim) that encourages killing enemies-by-association (see http://gotnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/Islam-and-the-shooter.jpg ).
No, we don’t want a police strike ... except that when the police are under lethal attack on the streets, social attack in the press, and political attack by their superiors, there isn’t a better option.
