Fox News reported he shot and killed his girlfriend in Baltimore, then drove up to Brooklyn.

I'm not sure how killing his girlfriend in Baltimore could have been "revenge" for Garner. My guess is he realized he was going away for a long, long time (if not "forever") for killing his girlfriend.

Maybe she knew what he was going to do and threatened to tell before it could happen.
