A Guantanamo inmate once named as a top Taliban intelligence official who kept Stinger missiles and uranium at his farm is among four men who have been released and sent back to Afghanistan.

Mohammed Zahir was a leading Taliban weapons supplier, according to his official Guantanamo file, leaked three years ago to The Telegraph by the Wikileaks hacker group.

“Detainee was arrested on suspicion of possessing weapons including Stinger missiles and uranium, which detainee’s recovered documents indicate was intended for use in a nuclear device,” Zahir’s threat assessment read. Zahir and the other three men, two of them members of militias linked to the Taliban, were released after their threat level was dramatically reduced.

nd handed over to the Afghan authorities, but it did not give a reason. However, the Associated Press news agency quoted a “senior official” saying that “most, if not all, of the terrorism accusations against the men had been discarded and each is considered a low-level operative at best”. President Barack Obama promised to close the Guantanamo Bay internment facility within a year of becoming president, but had to backtrack amid uncertainty over what to do with its hundreds of inmates.

Obama knows no limits at this point. When does the NSA and CIA begin to do it’s job?

He’s closing Gitmo by proxy. If there’s no one in it, it’s essentially closed.

He's either shacked up in the Lincoln Bedroom or off surfing the Hawaiian waves with his good buddy Hussein.

And, then, it can be given back to Cuba. A little gift for the brothers Castro from their new friend...

The Cuban regime could use a nice new updated prison. This one even has a new soccer field, baseball field, and running track.

Heck, it might make a nice new secure presidential compound for the Castro family? Just knock out a few walls, install some nice floor tiles, and heat the swimming pool. The heliport pad is already there.

"Obama will hand over Gitmo to his new Cuban pals."

I think you are right. Obama will continue to release groups of terrorists under any pretext and then terminate the lease to give the land back to the Castros.
