Amazing isn’t it.

Just anecdotal evidence , in my area, most fast food workers appear to be people who.were not born in this country. Can’t comment on their immigration status, but clearly they are not native born.

I travel a lot for business to all parts of the country, and people such as hotel workers, far from the border, all appear to be Mexican or other Latino workers.

People running airport concessions are predominantly foreign born.

Others may have such examples. How much of this is due to american born people not wanting to work in menial jobs vs. The fact that foreign born workers will take these jobs is an ongoing debate.

In my area foreign workers have replaced Americans (of all colors) in fast-food chains; since they are chains I assume these newcomers are legal. Americans have always worked these jobs, but “replacement Americans” will work them for a lot less. Besides coupling their low salaries with freebies, these foreigners are also content with a much lower standard of living (it is still many steps up from their homelands).

As far as Americans not wanting those jobs, remember the meat-packing plants raided by the INS in the midwest a few years back? When Americans showed up to apply for the jobs the next day, they were asked about Americans not wanting those jobs; several responded that they used to work those jobs until the companies replaced them with illegals...

Some Americans prefer the dole to a low-paying job because the dole pays so well; immigrants ensure that a growing number of jobs become low-paying jobs. I’ve seen plenty of bank teller and deli clerk positions in which the middle-aged and older Americans have been replaced with younger foreigners.
