Sheila had a great day today. A miraculous day! She said she needed a goodnight’s sleep, so she slept 12 hours straight. Chris helped her out of bed at noon and helped her transfer the first few times she needed to, and each time she did more and more of the work. She had a good visit with the home nurse late in the afternoon and then took a shower. Up to this point, transfers included standing her up, pivoting 90 degrees and sitting down with maybe a couple of little baby steps in between. Getting to the shower included standing up, taking three or four steps, turning around 180 degrees and siting down on the shower bench. Chris was there to support her, but she did it mostly on her own. This evening she was able to transfer herself from her wheelchair to the toilet and back all by herself. And just a few minutes ago, she called me and said watch this. She stood up from her wheelchair, took a step or two while holding the arm of the chair, pivoted and sat down in her recliner, just like she has a thousand times before. Woo hoo!! Sheila is back!! Praise God!!
