Eric Holder On Race: ‘We, As A Nation, Have Failed’
News One ^ | 12/18/2014

Posted on 12/19/2014 3:28:31 AM PST by Altura Ct.

After alluding to lyrics of slain rapper Tupac Shakur in a perfectly pitched response to a heckler recently, it did not seem that outgoing U.S. Attorney Eric Holder could best that talk in Atlanta, which came in the explosive aftermath of a Ferguson grand jury’s decision not to indict a White officer in the death of an unarmed Black man.

But the brave courtroom brawler returned to the national stage to drop some serious knowledge about the state of race in America. This time the discussion was about race in America, the wave of protests against police violence and President Barack Obama’s legacy during an interview with MSNBC host Joy Reid, which was published this week in New York Magazine.

While noting that young minorities should not fear the police, the outgoing attorney general said both groups have a history of deep mistrust of each other.

I don’t think that they should fear the police. But I certainly think that we have to build up a better relationship between young people, people of color, and people in law enforcement. There’s distrust that exists on both sides. There’s misunderstanding that exists on both sides. And we have to come up with ways in which we bridge those gaps, so that people don’t demonize other people; so that people understand, on both sides, that there are people trying to just do the best that they can.

We’re not at a stage yet where I can honestly say that if you’re a person of color, you should not be concerned about any interaction that you have with the police — in the same way that I can’t say to a police officer, “You shouldn’t worry about what community you are being asked to operate in.”

He also addressed the case of Amadou Diallo, a 23-year-old West African immigrant shot by police in the vestibule of his own New York City apartment building in 1999. At the time, deputy attorney general Holder issued a memorandum explaining why there was not going to be a federal prosecution of the officers who were acquitted in that killing, the report says.

When asked why the relationship between minorities and police has not progressed in a decade and a half since the Diallo shooting, Holder made a statement that might be surprising to some Whites, but not to Blacks.

It means that we, as a nation, have failed. It’s as simple as that. We have failed. We have understood that these issues have existed long before even that 2001 memorandum by that then-young deputy attorney general. These are issues that we’ve been dealing with for generations.

And it’s why we have to seize this opportunity that we now have. We have a moment in time that we can, perhaps, come up with some meaningful change. It’s what I’m committed to doing, even in the limited time I have left as attorney general. And I’ll certainly continue to do it after I leave office.

It’s what this administration is committed to. But I also feel that the nation is really ready for this kind of change. And I would hope that, 10 years from now, 12 years from now, we will not look back on this as a lost opportunity.

Holder went on to say that the Obama administration is committed to helping to foment that change. He essentially said it’s about time. He is right. Blacks have been ready for a change ever since our ancestors arrived in America bound and chained.

Race was not an issue anymore until OBAMA and Holder took control.

Certain black/democrat leaders wants America to fail. After all if America’s racial divisions were healed tomorrow, those guys would likely be out of a job.

When Jesse JAckson’s love child came to light, many older blacks who appreciated his lectures to young people to stop breeding recklessly felt betrayed. Holder & Obama had an opportunity (a national stage) to attempt to influence “black culture”, and abjectly failed to do so. Unfortunately, all criticism and analysis of their many failures will be attributed to “white obstructionists” - and this will be readily consumed by “their people”. American blacks are even more marginalized than they had ever been previously, and the only response is “pay pay pay”.

Definitely; the racial grievance industry is a massive industry, without which many profiteers would be unemployed/penniless.

Holder’s statement should have said “I apologize, as an Attorney General, I have failed the country and the black community.”

An OB, involved in an Atlanta abortion business.

I wonder, when does "Whitish" become white? I perceive Holder as white--with that beaky nose and receding chin, thin-lipped…a homely caucasian male.

Holder’s family is from Barbados; I suggest that if he doesn’t like it here, he consider returning to that remarkably well run paradise and take his Jamaican pals, Louis Farrakhan and Harry Belafonte, with him.

This race war crap was started for one reason and this was ;

As opposition to Obama’s abuse of his constitutional authority and talk of “impeachment” began to arise and his polling numbers fell.

What Obama needed, worked for, and got , by separating and isolating his solid group of supporters the blacks through creating out of whole cloth stories of “victimization”.

Using circumstances where lawless black youths wound up dead in felonious struggles over guns held by figures of authority. Obama used his “Bully Pulpit to reinforce that “victim” agenda in Florida and Missouri. In both cases he portrayed authority as the agressors and the perpetrators as the “victims”

In Florida’s case success was indicated by the number of incidents where members of other races were attacked severly injured or murdered by black youths committing these assults in the name of the so called “victim” All the while Obama neither commented on nor condemed such activity.

In Missouri he met with and issued a “stay the course” order to the Ferguson protesters. They in turn coordinated by the usual suspects organized nationwide protests. Their purpose and result was a successful demonstration of what would happen if congress ever moved on any constitutional efforts to restrain or even remove Obama including“Impeachment”..

Once the regime measured its unexpected success why not continue ?

Expand it to war on law enforcement. Get more cops refuse to respond or get killed if they do. or hesitate to defend themselves while attempting to confront “afro-americans” engaged in felonious assults while fleeing or are engaged in criminal activity resisting arrests.

Attack the Grand Jury system investigating police mal practice. It’s not after the facts it’s after the those poor hypenated Americans known as “Afro” who because of their financial situation are forced to pillage kill and rape. And are entitled to do so.

Exploit innocent interchanges between “afros” and different races make them (the afros) believe it’s racist. Create uneeded tension between them and other groups so that those groups not only view them with aprehension but feral creatures unable to know right from wrong

All because the regime must be protected from being questioned in its exercize and abuse of power.

Then bring in another completely alien group which they believe are easier to manipulate which will furthur isolate the “afro” who get thrown to the wolves because politically are no longer “usefull”.

All made possible by the alphabet soup running the visual and print media. Who have yet to have their day of reckoning.

Whaddya mean “we”, Kemosabe?

LOL

For those who are too young to know the joke, it went something like this:

“Looks like we're in trouble,” mutters the Lone Ranger to his pal.
Tonto’s response: “What you mean 'we,' white man?”

What Holder doesn’t get here are the likely practical, law of unintended consequences, outcomes of the “change” he’s bragging about effecting.

They’re going to involve things like “depolicing” and the “blue flu”. Because cops know that they’re the ones who are the ones who will be forced to “change” as a result of this, and it won’t be change that benefits them, their safety, their likelihood of going home to their families after a shift, and their ability to do their jobs.

Holder is such a little weasel in how he constructs his pitch. Says that, of course, he can’t tell cops not to be concerned about policing certain communities, but then concluding that it’s the cops who need to change.

Theyll change, alright. But it’s not going to be the change he’s trying to force down their throats.

What kind of "change" does the writer have in mind?

No one will say.

Maybe they don't know. Maybe they just want to bitch & moan.
