No they wouldn't. They'd laugh.They would assume it was a prank or a joke, because they would assume that the school administration was, at base, literate. The sad thing is that such a sign on an inner-city school is not assumed to be a prank or a joke, because an assumption of literacy cannot be made.

Regardless - the principal had the duty to know it was wrong from the get go and should have told Pedro to do it again.What? And have her career ruined with a charge of racism and bigotry rather than a mere reassignment?

I’m here to tell you it ain’t any better in the public sector. In some ways it’s worse, with civil service rules. The public agencies at some level actually seem to celebrate mediocrity as their raison d’etre.
