Tucson police no longer enforcing Arizona's immigration status checks

TUCSON, ARIZ. (AP) – Tucson police said Wednesday they will no longer fully enforce the state's landmark immigration law that requires local police to check the immigration status of people they encounter while enforcing other laws.

Chief Roberto Villaseñor said his officers will now only check immigration status and call the U.S. Border Patrol when a person has prior serious felony convictions, poses a threat to national security or has gang affiliations.

The criteria was set out for federal immigration authorities in an executive order issued last month by President Barack Obama intended to prioritize offenders for deportation.

"...when a person has prior serious felony convictions, poses a threat to national security or has gang affiliations.

In other words, they will still be checking just like before.

I think they should deport them to Washington DC rather than Mexico.

Chickenshit or just following orders. Anyone can be in a gang.

You offer a great solution!
Wonder what result if local LEA’s just gathered up a busload and dropped them in DC? A shuttle service in the style recently used by the feds to move them from the border to points inland.

As you might guess, Villasenor has no intention of enforcing laws against his Companeros.

In his world, murder is a misdemeanor.

He has no business being the Tucson police chief. He’s a total affirmative action hire, a rank bigot and Mexican chauvinist who works day and night to undermine the hated Gringo.

Under him, Tucson is turning into just another dusty Mexican village; it was not that way for a century and a half. Populated and built by the Americans, a shining example of what you COULD do in the desert as opposed to what his ancestors did NOT do.

So his job is to tear it apart and turn it into a Mexican barrio. It won’t matter to him; what’s important is that he and his Raza will be in charge.

Not enforcing Arizona law is part of that. After all, wouldn’t want to get rid of his political base, right?

Good idea. Start putting them up in Chevy Chase, Maryland. Boy, you’ll hear them Congress critters putting up one hell of a stink about “Not In My Backyard!!’’.

They wouldn't survive a week.

Lawlessness begets more lawlessness.

We now have a post-Constitutional Republic and a lawless society.

It’s unconscionable that a virulent Mexican Nationalist Separatist like Grijalva is in the Congress of the United States.

The day he was elected everyone in my family vomited.
