Exploration expected to cost $100 million and start in Dec 2015.

https://www.rigzone.com/news/oil_gas/a/136370/Stakeholder_Israels_Offshore_Royee_Gas_Field_May_Hold_32_TCF

The new Royee prospect, as it is known, is not as large as the Tamar field found in 2009 and the Leviathan field identified in 2010. They hold reserves estimated at 11 and 22 trillion cubic feet of gas, respectively, and because of their size they led to a flurry of exploration in the region, known as the Levantine basin.

So much for the world running out of oil and gas.

I'm beginning to believe that the earth creates gas and oil, and we're not burning old dinosaurs

Do you understand oil and gas is only sourced to sedimentary basins?

That is one theory.

In the 1950's a few Russian scientists began questioning this traditional view and proposed instead that petroleum could form naturally deep inside the Earth. 'Dry' wells have mysteriously refilled. This so-called "abiogenic" petroleum might seep upward through cracks formed by asteroid impacts to form underground pools, according to one hypothesis.

Lots of different opinions.

That oil and gas is only sourced to sedimentary basins is more than just a “theory”.

The original plan was to drive the Jews into the sea; now they probably want to rethink that.

That is one theory.

No. That is a fact.

No commercial oil production anywhere in the world outside of sedimentary basins.

proposed instead that petroleum could form naturally deep inside the Earth

That would be a theory. It doesn't follow many of the realities of where oil is found.

Conversion of biological material to petroleum and natural gas is a geological process.

Geological processes are continuous.

Therefore, the conversion of biological material to petroleum and natural gas is a continuous process.

You are right. The earth creates hydrocarbon fuel.

From what I have read, it happens as follows:

1) In the range of approximately 60 kilometers below the surface (obviously under tremendous pressure)

2) Mix calcium carbonate (chalk) with ferrous oxide (rust) and dihydrogen monoxide (water) [all occur naturally and in abundance]

3) Out pops hydrocarbons which make their way to the surface

We are never going to run out of hydrocarbon based fuel.

Yes, the Williston Basin.

"I'm beginning to believe that the earth creates gas and oil...."

Never thought it was organic - the term "Fossil-Fuel" is a misnomer.

Yes. It is called the Williston Basin.

It has multiple layers from different geological time periods. Cap rocks at different layer prevent oil migration to push upwards resulting in different layers of oil. Often oil has different qualities in different layers under the same surface area.

Within the simplified cross section above are more layers.

How do you explain the vast methane ocean discovered on Titan?

Crude oil actually contains microfossils. They are used in the analysis of the oil to learn about the depositional environment in which the rock unit formed.

Yea, but Sheldon on the “Big Bang Theory” says that Geology is not a real science. So there.
