On Wednesday Barack Obama thanked Pope Francis for playing a key role finalizing a deal between the US and Cuba.

Pope Francis is now set on closing Gitmo.
World Net Daily reported:

Having helped broker the agreement to normalize relations between the United States and communist Cuba, Pope Francis plans next to turn his attention to closing the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay, a goal he shares with President Obama.

In a meeting last week at the Vatican with Secretary of State John Kerry, the Vatican secretary of state, Pietro Parolin, second in authority to the pope, offered to assist U.S. efforts to close the facility for terrorism suspects.

Vatican spokesman Federico Lombardi said the Vatican stood ready “to help find adequate humanitarian solutions through our international contacts” to help place current detainees,” Agence France-Presse reported.

The White House said Wednesday that the re-establishment of U.S. relations with Cuba after more than five decades came after Pope Francis and Obama discussed Cuba at their most recent meeting, which was followed by a Vatican-hosted meeting between U.S. and Cuban officials, the White House told reporters Wednesday.

The White House believes the normalizing of diplomatic relations with the island nation would not have happened without the involvement of Pope Francis, the first Catholic pontiff from Latin America.

The pope seeks a humanitarian solution for Gitmo.

As many as 20 to 30 former Guantanamo Bay detainees are suspected of having joined forces with the Islamic State.

ISIS has obliterated the Catholic community in Iraq and beheaded Christian children. ISIS also threatened Pope Francis in August.

All Pope Francis seems to care about is putting an end to suffering.
He doesn't appear to care what is involved as long as it furthers that goal.
The fact that embracing Communism and Socialism always leads to even greater suffering seems not to concern him.

Foolish men who mean well are an asset to Evil.
John Paul II was a wise man who knew Evil when he saw it.
This Pope is not a wise man.

Nothing said about Cuban political prisoners suffering in squalid dungeons for decades, often dying there.

This Pope is a disaster.

You hit it on the head, this Pope is a foolish man. He is born and raised in poverty-ridden socialist south american culture and has absolutely no clue what leads to suffering and poverty conditions. Hopefully, he’ll be gone soon before more damage is done.

He’s paving the way for the NWO and OWG/OWR. Those prisoners are on the wrong side of the political spectrum for him.

Who elected a pastor King of the Americas? This is another reason that Mike Huckabee would be a disaster in the White House.

He is the False Prophet, paving the way for the one-world religion of humanism.

If I were President, the only way I would close Gitmo is if all the prisoners were released....from 30,000 feet over the Atlantic after being sewn into a fabric made from pig hides and weighted down with pig organs.
Also take a collection of used feminine hygiene products to add to that mix.

Those bastards will never get into paradise.

The Jesuits have always been a thorn in the side of Catholicism. 3rd Secret?

I thought at first this Pope might be cool. Maybe not.

When he started berating American Catholics for opposing the illegal immigrant invasion, he left a bad taste in my mouth. The Church has always had a socialist streak and has looked down its collective nose at Americans, saying we don't do enough or give enough to help the poor. Sorry, but I refuse to feel guilty. Americans have always been generous, both through our charitable giving and our tax dollars.

Now I guess he expects that with the “thaw” in our relationship with Cuba, we will be guilted into pouring our hard earned money into this hellhole. And yes, we should take in the horde of refugees who will surely be coming here.

Sorry, Your Holiness, but you can KMA.

Will somebody please inform Pope Francis that the prisoners there are the best treated prisoners in the world?

Does he seem to think that their next prison will be better?

Or, does he just want them released?

How is it any of Pope’s business? We live in a strange times. From Pope’s speeches and actions he seems more like an international socialist than Christian spiritual leader.

Doesn’t seem logical or smart.

When the released CRUCIFY, BEHEAD, RAPE and ENSLAVE more
Christians, it will have been Pope Francis that led their
charge.

Pope Francis should look to the East if he really wants to fight human rights issues.

Perhaps the Pope can offer to keep the released Gitmo prisoners at the Vatican.
