'It Stinks': 10-Year-Old Says Common Core Is 'Nonsense'
Fox News Insider ^ | December 17, 2014

Posted on 12/17/2014 6:05:58 PM PST by Kaslin

10-year-old Elizabeth Blaine dropped the mic at a Montclair, New Jersey, school board meeting Monday night, sharing her support for a policy that lets parents opt out their children from taking the Common Core test, also known as PARCC (Partnership for the Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers).

"I love to read. I love to write. I love to do math. But I don’t love the PARCC. Why? Because it stinks," Elizabeth said.

"This is crazy!" she continued. "I am one of the most gifted students in my grade (or so my mom says) and I have not even the slightest clue as to what this means."

"I am glad my mom and dad are letting me opt out, because I don’t want to deal with this nonsense."

The full text of Elizabeth's speech reads:

I love to read. I love to write. I love to do math. But I don’t love the PARCC. Why? Because it stinks.

The goal to have a baseline of knowledge when a kid finishes high school, and every grade for that matter, is a decent goal. The problem is what they are teaching and how they insist it be done.

CC has put more kids into homeschooling than anything else. It’s a shame too because public school is where kids learn to socialize, get into sports and other team building activities, etc. etc.

CC has ruined it all.

The essential goal of “Common Core” that nobody really wants to say out loud is this:

To make all the standardized tests so confusing that white kids will do just as bad on them as black kids.

As evidence of this, watch this Common Core PSA put out by the Urban League, the racial subtext is practically dripping off it:

http://scholasticadministrator.typepad.com/thisweekineducation/2014/09/put-our-children-1st-common-core-for-common-goals-iamempoweredcom.html#.VJI8xntBk2Y

Their message, that “all kids come in first” really means, in practice “all kids must lose equally”, so that some kids don’t feel bad about themselves.

Home school ping.

Why would the parent of “one of the most gifted students in my grade (or so my mom says)...” allow her daughter to attend a government indoctrination center?

Somewhere, I read a tale told in an interview with a little Chinese woman who’d escaped Mao. She spoke of how Common Core is like what she experienced under Mao in school: same stuff, same way of teaching.

She specifically mentioned that people were taught to not think for themselves, and that, in the US, she noticed people could think for themselves. Apparently, this non-independent thinking carries through the lives of people who learn this way.

Right. When it takes a teacher two minutes to explain how to subtract 267 from 578, yeah!

Common Core refers to the lowest common denominator. It is meant to bring the smartest kids down to the level of the worst performing kids. This is the obama way for all of society.

Here is something interesting all of you should independently verify. Common core is only required in public, charter, and low tuition private schools. Those private schools that are more costly do not have to adopt it. They are given exemptions. You should all ask yourself why.

It's not just the implementation that sucks.

Sorry to ‘lower the boom on you, Boomer,

The fact is clear and unambiguous: Home schooled students are better socialized that the sad, sorry, students stuck in the Pooblik Skrewl Collective’s hives.

Facts just are.

A good friend of mine who is a Vietnam vet(Army) and who was raised an Air Force brat told me he has worked with and known well a number of Chinese who escaped Mao and who told him that brainwashing works by relentlessly breaking down the structures, values and beliefs a person is bought up with. It doesn't necessarily require physical torture to achieve this, other than perhaps some sleep-deprivation, it just requires a constant barrage of mindless rote that works at breaking down a persons inherent beliefs and replacing them with yours.

Isn’t Jeb Bush a keen proponent of common core education?

Of course, his kids probably went to private school.

Yeah, I hate that they are insisting things be done in a certain way -- and that those ways are many times counter-intuitive.

I've spent a decade teaching topics in multiple methods because a) there usually are multiple methods, and b) when stressing problem solving, recognizing that the task can be broken down and completed and checked is more important than doing it the One True Way we said to.

And now they're doing crazy crap. The kids know the math; they just can't figure this stuff out.

I wish someone could explain to me...in a way I could understand...just how this stuff allegedly works....and .....how its designed to mess up kids minds

I know that they must have some alleged way of making it work....but I cannot fathom any of the explanations Ive seen

I honestly think the explanation is that at this point, absolutely everything the democrats do turns out exactly the opposite of what they say.

Using so-called poetry by Maya Angelou is sufficient evidence to deem common core worthless.
