My screen name is my initials and birth year. Having retired from the military as a major and my lifelong nickname being Dick I went for MajorDick which is what my NCOs kiddingly hung on me, but that was not well received so I took the easy path

My screen name is what I see as the keystone of having a republic. People taking responsibility for themselves, Personal Responsibility.

Before there was Free Republic there was various UseNet groups where politics were discussed. When G. W. Bush first started talking for running for president he styled himself a “compassionate Conservative”. It drove the progressives and statists nuts. I have been Captain Compassion on most groups sense then.

Early Macs used a system of writing to the hard drive called “bin hex”...not being a real techie, I never really understood it but adopted it being unable to come up with something more catchy like “loose stools”. BTW, my new wife is from Texas and we plan to spend Christmas in Ft. Worth.

It is obvious
I am sci fi fan and geek so I named myself Seven of Nine from Star Trek Voyager to character replace that annoying character Kes who only live 10 year old
Seven of Nine is half human half borg

If you have ever had the experience of smelling Vietnam’s magic fish sauce, my name comes from being downwind from Vietnam’s premier production facility for a year, a memory hopefully never to be relived but also never forgotten!

From a nickname my wife gave me. It’s nothing vulgar. Cute - I’ll leave it at that.

I signed up before the Bush43 nomination, and I was unenthusiastic over W's conceit that he was a different kind of conservative. Different than what, exactly? The soft bigotry of low expectations is a failure of compassion, and it is hardly the fault of any conservative that so many liberals are steeped in it.

LRDG ~ Long Range Desert Group. I live in Arizona and am fascinated with what this group did in North Africa early in WWII.

It’s a nickname given to me by one of my sons about 35 years ago-——a play on my first name.

Well, it had to do with putting the angel on top of the tree, and...No, seriously, it was probably what was on my playlist when I found FR this time 10 years ago. That plus year of birth.
