Republican leaders are so far refusing to telegraph their strategy for combating President Obama’s unilateral action on immigration. But they’re under enormous pressure from the right to act fast.
Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) have no shortage of options. The question is whether any of them would stop Obama in his tracks.
Aides to GOP leadership say one weapon in their armory would be for Republicans to sue the president, either by expanding the GOP’s current lawsuit against him on ObamaCare or bringing new legal action. Republicans, who will take over the Senate in January, have also threatened to block all of Obama’s executive branch nominees, unless the president reverses his plan shielding up to 5 million immigrants in the country illegally from deportation.
The strategy will most certainly include legislation. Senior Republicans have signaled they plan to quickly take up a bill similar to one by Rep. Mick Mulvaney (R-S.C.) that would bar any federal funding from being used for Obama’s unilateral actions.
But GOP leaders will need to show quick results if they are to mollify restless rank-and-file members and right-wing activists.
Conservative lawmakers and outside groups are furious with leadership for negotiating and passing a trillion-dollar omnibus spending package last week that funded almost the entire government through September but did little to challenge Obama’s immigration action.
Tea Party lawmakers have derided the legislation as a vote for “amnesty.” The super-PAC linked to the Senate Conservatives Fund began running $80,000 worth of radio ads blasting Boehner, McCarthy and Scalise for caving in the immigration fight.
On Tuesday, the Tea Party Leadership Fund renewed its long-shot online campaign to depose Boehner and install conservative South Carolina Rep. Trey Gowdy as Speaker.

Really? Can they also "Huff and Puff"? Maybe we can get some "hand waiving" and "fist thumping" on tables. If that fails, they should pull out the pen and draft a strongly worded letter for review. Maybe it could be read on the House floor and entered into "The Record".

Too bad the fools gave up 100% of their leverage against the evil One by passing Cromnibus.
So now they have to figure out how to get legislation a) past the Senate where the ‘rats have filibuster power and b) past the White Hut where the Kenyan has veto power.
I think we’re in for some more “legislative theater”, by a Congress that, collectively, agrees with Obola anyhow.

Wait! What? They just passed a bill that WOULD provide federal funding for "Obama's unilateral action." And Ted Cruz made sure they were on the record acknowledging that was their intention.

This is laughable. Obama did their heavy lifting for them. The Chamber of Amnesty is ecstatic over it.
The republican's most potent weapon was restricting funding. And Boehner and a good chunk of the GOP has already given that leverage away.

Besides suing the president, perhaps the HOR could set up another committee to investigate the situation. (sarcasm)

Nope, can’t sue. Don’t know where the court house is. Plus they don’t know where to get the proper forms. Plus they don’t know how to fill them out. Plus they don’t have anybody to take the forms to the court house. And so forth and so on.

I believe that Obola was, at best, conceived by an incubus. At worst, by satan himself.
