ALBANY — The Cuomo administration announced Wednesday that it would ban hydraulic fracturing in New York State, ending years of uncertainty by concluding that the controversial method of extracting gas from deep underground could contaminate the state’s air and water and pose inestimable public-health risks...

That conclusion was delivered publicly during a year-end cabinet meeting called by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo in Albany. It came amid increased calls by environmentalists to ban fracking, which uses water and chemicals to release natural gas trapped in deeply buried shale deposits.

Then they should have to pay more for gas.

If that's the case, then how is it that liberals are always able to come up with specific numbers that define the costs in dollars and lives for any "environmental threat" that conservatives want, and that will help the country's economy?

We need a return to basic private property rights. No Governor should have this power.

When states actively discourage drilling, fracking, etc... a 100% premium should be added to the price of oil in that state.

No. Just don't sell it to them. Let them freeze in the dark.

Solar. Wind. That is the answer. /s

Cuomo is a dyed in the wool liberal. He was just looking for a reason to ban fracking - that was his solution in search of a problem.

We already pay more for gas. It’s still $2.95 / gallon here for 87 grade.

NYS will never have to worry. Along with Cal and Ill, they’re the bedrock of Dem electoral strategy - 104 evs without spending a penny in campaign money.

So you know their state debt will someday fall on the back of the rest of us.

I love how democrats are called progressives. Most of their policies are the antithesis of progressive. If they had their choice the common folk would be riding around in rickshaws.

If you are that concerned about the environment, provide incentives to companies that can effectively mitigate the supposed risks. Same goes for global warming/cooling/stayingthesame

He could rape a dog while eating a baby and strangling a nun, and idiots in NYC and Albany will vote him in.
