The link above (not the picture) will take you to this somewhat prophetic song.
I had a woman down in Alabama She was a backwoods girl, but she sure was realistic She said, Boy, without a doubt Have to quit your mess and straighten out You could die down here, be just another accident statistic Theres a slow, slow train comin up around the bend
All that foreign oil controlling American soil Look around you, its just bound to make you embarrassed Sheiks walkin around like kings Wearing fancy jewels and nose rings Deciding Americas future from Amsterdam and to Paris And theres a slow, slow train comin up around the bend
Mans ego is inflated, his laws are outdated, they dont apply no more You cant rely no more to be standin around waitin' In the home of the brave Jefferson turnin over in his grave Fools glorifying themselves, trying to manipulate Satan And theres a slow, slow train comin up around the bend
Big-time negotiators, false healers and woman haters Masters of the bluff and masters of the proposition But the enemy I see Wears a cloak of decency All nonbelievers and men stealers talkin in the name of religion And theres a slow, slow train comin up around the bend
People starving and thirsting, grain elevators are bursting Oh, you know it costs more to store the food than it do to give it They say lose your inhibitions Follow your own ambitions They talk about a life of brotherly love show me someone who knows how to live it Theres a slow, slow train comin up around the bend
Well, my baby went to Illinois with some bad-talkin boy she could destroy A real suicide case, but there was nothin I could do to stop it I dont care about economy I dont care about astronomy But it sure do bother me to see my loved ones turning into puppets Theres a slow, slow train comin up around the bend

Back in 1979 Bob wrote this song from a Christian perspective.
All the things he sings about in this song were true on a global scale...and it sure seems to fit today.
Except for the “grain elevators” bursting part, we seem to be once again moving toward oligarchies and limited freedom worldwide.
Little did we know in 1979 we were on the cusp of a bit of a pro-America revival. Churches grew, Ronald Reagan won in two landslides, and there was a time of morning in America.
God’s providence rules in our day as in 1979. He may choose not to deliver us again. But we ought to stay true to His Word.
sff
I’ve been looking for his “You’ve got to pay someone” but all I can find is speeded-up versions that sound too shrill
The song is Gotta Serve Somebody.
I ain’t gonna work on Maggie’s farm no more. :-)
There’s a communist Hurricane” coming...
Consider downloading the WavePad Sound Editor. The basic version is free and easy to use, and it's really all most folks need. You can use it to speed up or slow down a song. It can also do many other useful things.
I use it to speed up ballads that are (for me) sung too slowly.
