Jackie Robinson West Baseball accused of cheating

The Jackie Robinson West sluggers from Chicago’s struggling South Side became national celebrities this summer when they hit and pitched their way to the Little League World Series and took home the U.S title.

But now the adults who put together the team — parents, coaches and league administrators — face allegations they violated Little League residency rules by stacking the lineup with All-Star ringers from the suburbs to create a “super team” that became champs. http://www.dnainfo.com/chicago/20141216/morgan-park/jackie-robinson-west-broke-residency-rules-suburban-league-claims

Chicago? I guess it’s better than shooting each other.

Shocking! Nobody has ever stacked a little league team before. It’s just not done.

I remember a LL World Series player from Korea who hit a 370 ft home run. The announcer”did you see the beard on that kid? “

Why would cheating by a Chicago organization surprise anyone, isn’t this the basis for affirmative action?

I’m more interested in the cultures of the “parents” and leaders.

This is yet another media failure. The list is so long now that just assume everyone they celebrate is guilty and everyone they crucify is innocent. Its what Vegas odds makers would probably suggest.

Uhhh, they all look about 16. They make the coaches look short. Did anyone check the birth certs? I reckon if you cheat with geography, you might cut a corner or three somewhere else.

The ENTIRE south side of Chicago knew Jackie Robinson was cheating but it was swept under the rug.

There is no way the Tribune or the Sun Times could ruin a P.C. feel good story about some poor, oppressed, discriminated, hated on, superlative..pejorative, etc. etc.black kids.

Well at least this time a South Side team cheated to actually win.

Did anyone check the birth certs?

If the President does not need one, why should the little leaguers?

As long as they met the age limit, this seems like a pretty specious charge.
I suspect past Little League teams have hunted down talented players that might have been out of the neighborhood.

Why did the cheaters go to the suburbs for more players? Not enough downtown Amish?

Wasn’t there a Filipino pitcher a few years back of questionable maturity as well?

I think they were tipped off when they saw him drive his wife and kids to the game, and was seen drinking in a bar afterward.

Whatever the truth of it, it reminds me of the Soapbox Derby world championships in the early 1970s when some kid “won” the championship but the judges found it odd that his times were progressively slower in the heats - apparently, the racers customarily sped up with each race. They took apart his car and found a large hidden magnet in the front that would pull him toward metal at the finish; the magnet would lose strength with each race heat. He was stripped of the title. In a remarkable coincidence, his cousin had won the Derby in a year or two previous.
