Dog, I wish to thank you for your long service with the First City Troop, or your horse. I'm sure I shall gaze respectfully upon your portrait the next time I'm dining at the Union League. Although, if the Marxist Mulatto continues his economic depredations, I may have to make it the Sunday Breakfast Society. At least the edifying talks are better than his speeches.

I was captured in Maine as a sturdy youth by commercially violent Friends, brought to Philadelphia aa a possibly useful worker, and for all the years since, the city has been a place of strange wonderment and excitement to me.

E.G., on my first day in Philadelphia, I met Thatcher Longstreth AND Frank Rizzo. Together. (Top that!) My mind hasn't been the same since. I was blessed to be leaving as Wilson Goode was arriving. Through a strange concatenation of events, I was last in the shadow of Billy Penn on the morning of 9/11.

Rizzo (Frank) and Longstreth lived a few blocks from each other. Frank was always out of place in Chestnut Hill. He was South Philly all the way. The mounted units were Rizzo’s pride and joy.
