Terror in Sydney As Gunman Takes At Least 13 Hostages At Lindt Cafe, forces crying women to hold black Islamic flag against the window and 'demands to speak to Tony Abbott'

Witnesses described how a man wearing a headband covered in Arabic walked into the Lindt cafe in Martin Place and produced a shotgun from a blue bag at around 9.45am.
Shortly afterwards hostages were seen with their hands pressed against the windows holding up the Shahada flag belonging to the extremist group Jabhat al-Nusra, which is fighting the Assad government in Syria. There are claims that the terrorist is also armed with a machete and may have explosives but this has not been confirmed by police.
One of the hostage-takers has made contact with officers saying that he has 'devices all over the city' and 'wants to speak with the prime minister live on radio', according to Ray Hadley, from 2GB. Lindt Australia CEO Steve Loane estimates there are up to 50 people being held inside.

I may be wrong on this, but it would seem it would be best to downplay the number of hostages. Why make these terrorists look that much more strong, because they had 50 vs 10 hostage. Keep the number close to the vest.

Maybe one of the hostages can quietly draw their concealed handgun and double tap the terrorist. However, this is Australia where only the terrorist can carry a gun.

Too bad the hostages are so obedient to this savage. I’d say they were sheep, but sheep at least will flee a predator and do what they can, however limited, to protect themselves. What if even one of them had said, “Kill me if you will, but I’m a free western woman, I’d rather die on my feet than live on my knees, and I’m NOT holding your black rag against that window!”
Interesting to compare what Hadley and the ABC are doing versus what would happen with the US MSM. The dude has had one of the hostages contact those media organizations demanding to be interviewed, and they’ve both replied, “we’re not going to give a terrorist publicity, talk to the cops”. Here, I suspect, there’d be a stampede to be the first station to put him on the air.
