I thought so too
Cough, cough
Humberto Fontova’s articles are mostly about Castro and Cuba. This one was different for a change
That was funny, the entire movie was funny.
I love venison jerky. :-)
I love Humberto. At one time we both belonged to the same outdoor writer’s association, the Southeastern Outdoor Press Association.
His insight into the Cuban socialist Utopia is very enlightening — not at all the vision the Hollywood weirdos like to say Cuba is.
Hiya, my FRiend...Haven’t seen you post for quite awhile, have missed you.
Humberto is a great writer on not only the atrocities by Fidel, Che and Raul but with humorous pieces like this.
Jose Ortega y Gassets Meditations on Hunting. “A work of genius!”
Yes, it was. One of my favorites of all the books I’ve ever read.
“We hang them by the antlers when we bring them out of the woods so they can cool off and bleed out. For butchering, we hang them by the back legs, (hocks) and skin them out from the ass down. It has been this way in my family forever.”
Me too. Unless they cooled down and bleed out across the saddle. Then it’s hocks up.
I was the recipient of a friend like you. He rented 30 acres and let me hunt it whenever I wanted. Took my first deer there. Thank you from all who let us find resources without a way to experience our natural instincts...
I don’t hunt, but I’ve worked with a lot of guys who did who shared Bambi with me. I once made goetta with Bambi.
Q: how do you tell the difference between a rural area and an urban area in Virginia?
A: in the urban areas hunters skin their deer on the back porch. In the rural areas they skin them on the front porch.
