Folks, rewarding illegal immigrants with citizenship has a central theme: creating an overwhelming block of voters that support the Democratic Party in their socialist aims including gun control. Most of these illegal immigrants have been raised in socialist countries where the government is viewed as having god-like powers to provide for and protect every individual as well as single-handedly solve all of society's problems. Naturally, these people think that the government and their agents are the only ones that can be trusted with guns. Thus, they assume that any person with a gun who is not an agent approved by the government is a criminal simply because they possess a gun. All respectable gun owners should oppose illegal immigration and amnesty and support the Gun Owners of America in that regard.

Legal immigration has had a far more devastating impact on electoral politics than illegal immigration. We bring in 1.1 million LEGAL PERMANENT IMMIGRANTS annually. 87% of them are minorities as defined by the USG. They will become citizens and vote. In 1970 one in 21 was foreign-born; today, it is one in 8, the highest in 90 years; and within a decade it will be one in 7, the highest in our history. There were 9.7 million foreign-born in 1970 and today it is 41.5 million.

We have just had the two largest decades of legal immigration in our history. Over 27 million legal permanent immigrants entered during the period 1990-2010.

I think the poll is shallow - as amnesty plays out, if it plays out, more and more whites will leave the ranks of the gun control group and liberalism altogether.

This has already started. The Democrats are trying to find 10 million new voters - without realizing they may send 20 million of their current voters away.

Do the illegal immigrants even acknowledge that it was Barack Obama who was gun running arms to the narcoterrorists who they fear in their home country?

Do they think that the corrupt government would be less corrupt/abusive if the citizens there were unarmed?

Instead of pandering to a liberal agenda, Perhaps Pew should have taken their poll among those of us of Hispanic ancestry here in Texas, especially outside of the anthills-they would have gotten a result that would have sent them scurrying. Frontier rules are the norm here, no matter what your ethnicity might be...

For “illegal aliens” think “Mexican citizens”.

Their reason for fearing legal guns goes back to two horrific and bloody civil wars, one at the start of the 19th Century, and the other at the start of the 20th Century.

Going back even further, Mexico and countries south of there suffer from “Old Europe disease”, which still afflicts them today. It is the feudal outlook, that there are only two classes of people: the rich and powerful, and the poor peasants.

This really hurts people and leaves long lasting hatreds.

In Europe it is why dog licenses for large dogs are incredibly expensive, because before, only the rich and powerful could own large dogs.

But back to the point. The only people who could have guns in old Mexico were the wealthy and the banditos, later revolutionaries. And both the government of the wealthy, and the banditos, were utterly savage to the peasants not loyal to them.

Many times, a large group of peasants would be met by men on horseback, who would demand to know who’s side they were on. Any who answered incorrectly would be killed on the spot.

In any event, it resulted in cultural trauma to most Mexicans. And guns are part of the focus to that trauma.

HOWEVER, (and a big however), Mexicans are flexible enough to learn better. While those newly entering the US are still very frightened of things like the murderous drug cartels, once they adapt to the US, and understand that “guns are for the people, not just the ‘masters’, the rich people”, things will change.

This is why gun liberty organizations need to make a serious and extended push to convince Hispanics to join the rest of us as legal gun owners. And for the same reasons that we have guns.

Of course this means Hispanics who are citizens, not illegal aliens. But if the government waves its wand and makes the illegals, legal, then gun rights organizations should be “Johnny on the spot” to teach them about gun rights and liberties. An outreach of enormous size, not just to men, but also to women.

Right now it is a problem, but it soon could be an opportunity. All it takes is to change minds.

But...but, if we just stick to our guns and keep voting GOP, things will eventually turn around. /s

This is correct. Mexicans in particular are anti-gun.

You cannot take away our rights by bringing in illegal aliens, unassimilated to America, to vote for your socialist tyrannical state. Any votes after 2014 are, in my view, illegitimate until Americans reinstate the Constitution. At some point, there will have to be a mass exodus, either of Americans or of non-Americans. Some Americans may have to leave, too. We don’t need commies or their enablers, and we don’t need muslims, those who practice that faith. There is a precedent; loyalists had to leave after the Revolution. If we are forced into another similar battle, and win, one consequence will be to redefine who gets to stay. No more traitors.

creating an overwhelming block of voters that support the Democratic Party

Illegal immigrants can't vote; it will take them about three years to gain citizenship as things stand now....by the time the new citizen can vote, America will have thrown off the cloak of Socialism...it is unsustainable in any country...new Americans come from Dictatorships and shaky Socialist governments...I like to think some of them have more brains than our undereducated and misinformed Americans.

A complacent society that allows those in power to ignore the Constitution is the biggest threat to gun rights.
