Excellent advice. I taught my daughter how to do drywall and plastering, among other fix-it skills. While she attended university, she got a paying job repairing dorm buildings, fixing walls, caulking and plumbing. She knew more than the guys. She's now working for a publisher but knows she can get work if necessary. Plus she gutted and remodeled her own bathroom. Teach your son plumbing, no robot can do that and it pays well. Young gal next door has a black boyfriend who was a punk but got into plumbing. He started by borrowing a van, within five years he owned several trucks and expanded the business, very impressive and it changed him to a nice guy.
I told the boy, learn a trade, make a decent wage and if you desire to get a degree in philosophy you will have the means to do it.
Actually I pushed him toward a business degree.
