House Dem: GOP Gave Dems ‘Virtually Everything’ We Wanted
National Review Online ^ | December 11, 2014 | Joel Gehrke

Retiring representative Jim Moran (D., Va.) says that Democrats got “virtually everything” they wanted in the cromnibus package that’s going to a vote in the House tonight, as he praised the bill in terms that could double as the conservative critique of the legislation.

Moran says that “the Republicans are indicating they need 80 Democrats” and he’s frustrated that Democrats won’t provide the votes.

I dedicate this O'care video from last year, to the Republican "Leadership" who are part of the problem. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azoWedQH8zQ

Of course the Republicans caved. It’s what the gutless cowards DO.

"Of course they did. Bonehead actually believes that the message of the last election was that the people wanted the GOP to cave to the Rats in the interest of “bipartisanship”."

You are too kind. I think Boehner is actively colluding with Obama and his fellow travelers. Boehner is an enemy agent in the GOP and much of the GOP leadership is working with the Democrats against Conservatives and the will of the majority of citizens.

Jim's math was off. All they needed was 57 dems, since 162 pubbies voted for this omnibus monstrosity of drek, when all they really had to do was "pass a clean CR for 3 months and give themselves reasonable time to complete a thoughtful budget that everyone could read” or let Elizabeth Warren "shut down the government".

Exactly correct. What everyone is missing is that Boehner and the GOPe want amnesty and see the Cromnibus as an easy way to fund it while trying to act like they are in opposition. They can do this because we’re too dumb to notice.

Back to the Good Old Days (for democrats) during the Bush administration when republicans held the White House and a majority in both houses but democrats basically ran congress and the senate.

>i>I don’t think he believes that. I just think that he and the GOPe really want big government, because they want the power that it brings them.”</i>

Spot on. When the GOPe last controlled all three branches what happened:

Out of control spending went up.

Personal freedoms went down.

Government power over the citizenry went up.

How is that any different than when Dems are in power?

The main thing the GOP gave the Dems in this bill is a voting majority for it, so the majority of Dems could vote against it, even though it has everything they wanted. The only thing the GOP wanted was changes to Dodd-Frank so the guys who bankroll both parties can operate more freely.
Any Republican in the house running for their next reelection will have to answer for this in the primaries and if they survive that will get blasted by the Dems because they voted against this horrible bill that destroyed the country and our way of life. I bet Hillary is against it also...

No, that’s not needed when you have a $200K+ job and are a powerful member of the most elite club in the world. Simple human greed will do the trick.

Somewhere there MUST be pictures of every one of these ‘republicans’ making it with farm yard animals or SOMETHING!

I've been thinking for a long time that the republicans are being blackmailed.

“No, that’s not needed when you have a $200K+ job and are a powerful member of the most elite club in the world. “

And when you leave office, you become a $1,000,000 + a year lobbyist......where you go to collect your payoff.

Nah that’s not it.

Fact is John Boehner has all the integrity of Barrack Hussain Obama. Kevin McCarthy is even less honorable.

These people are addicted to Power. Both parties are full of them.

The GOP just removed itself from any donations/consideration/votes from me.

No bother telling me this will only aid the dim-bulbs.

The fact is, the only recourse left will be CW-II.

Democracy has failed and our country’s future rests on 1) hopefully, our military, and in support 2) the portion of the population holding real jobs who will rise up and tell liberals to get into the truck to go to a place where they will never be seen again.

There is a reason guns are selling

The second amendment was placed there as a defense against the government.

If ever a constitutional amendment needed, it is one that forbids legislation to be moved, short of war or catastrophic circumstances, after an election has taken place until a new congress is seated.

Actually, it would make more sense to simply collapse the period between the election and the newly electeds' assumption of their offices. The current two months (or two and as half months in the case of the president) is simply unnecessary in today's world. Originally designed to allow newly elected officeholds time to arrange their affairs before embarking on what, for some, could have been a two or three week carriage ride to Washington, the long delay now is simply an archaic remnant from a bygone era.

Frankly, there is no reason why, in today's world in which you can get to Washington in a day from the farthest corners of the nation, a newly elected member of Congress couldn't be sworn in on the day after the election is certified. Why continue a lame duck in office for two full months, a period of time he or she would not be able to do anything (under your proposal) but would still be drawing their full government salary.
