I may be missing something, but if she was not involved what exactly was the motive for two strangers to kidnap and murder her little boy?
This may not be sufficient grounds to convict her but I would think sufficient grounds to believe she was not innocent of any involvement.

They weren’t strangers. One was her roommate, and the other was a friend of his.

Motive? The roommate questioned her about her terms of employment at an insurance company, and discovered her benefits package included life insurance. He told his friend he would get $250 from the insurance payout. Scamming Mrs. Milke out of the insurance could be a strong motive.
