Republican Reps. Justin Amash (R-MI), Michele Bachmann (R-MN), Dave Brat (R-VA), Mo Brooks (R-AL), Paul Broun (R-GA), Louie Gohmert (R-TX), Paul Gosar (R-AZ), Tim Huelskamp (R-KS), Walter Jones (R-NC), Jim Jordan (R-OH), Steve King (R-IA), Raul Labrador (R-ID), Tom Massie (R-KY), Bill Posey (R-FL), Matt Salmon (R-AZ) and Steve Stockman (R-TX) held the line and voted no. Rep. Kerry Bentivolio (R-MI) switched his vote from nay to yay at the last minute.
If the numbers that are being reported50 to 60, maybe moreof Republicans hold on against the final passage of the bill later in the day, and all the Democrats who opposed the rule oppose the bill, the bill would fail on final passage. It remains to be seen what will happen.

Cantor resigned.
Brat was in two races on election day. One to fill the remaining term and one for the next term.
The info I read on the guy that defeated him indicates otherwise but I'm pretty sure someone has called him a RINO or GOPe at one time or another. This used to be Thad Cotter's seat.
More of these guys need to be “Cantored.”
“Dave Brat should not be seated until January.”
The serpent Cantor resigned early to take his Wall St. gig. So Brat was sworn in early.
Just called Representative Brat’s office to let him know we backed his doing whatever he can to kill this thing.
Just sent him an email...y’all do the same. Prolly won’t do any good, but hey, fill his inbox.

I just called Adrian Smith (NE).
Do you see any SC representatives on that list?
When I clicked on that link it said:
BILL TITLE: Providing for consideration of the Senate amendment to H.R. 83, to require the Secretary of the Interior to assemble a team of experts to address the energy needs of the insular areas of the United States and Freely Associated States through the development of energy action plans aimed at promoting access to energy
Is that what this bill is called? Good grief.
Thank you butter—every call counts.
Already was primaried and lost
His parting courtesy. Trott is on his way out.
Went to my reps district office in person.
Let them know their boss should kill the bill.
Yeah.
That was the title of the original House bill that was gutted and replaced with the “crammed omnibus”.
I believe they have to keep the original title when they do that.
CPT—that’s taking action!!
A personal visit beats a phone call which beats an email.
But they all add up.
Right now, Obama, Joe Biden, and Denis McDonogh(WH Chief of Staff) are all chatting up the Dem reps to pass ANY bill.
Boehner and Mccarthy are probably trying to head off a n internal riot.
All because the American people threw a wrench into the works.
Their best hope is a three month continuation of the present CR, while defunding amnesty, until the new GOP-led Congress takes over and legislate funding priorities for the remainder of FY 2015.
This should have been the plan from the beginning, and all of this mess could have been easily avoided.
That it did not happen this way is Exhibit A why John Boehner and Kevin McCarty need to go—yesterday.
Good for you on the personal visit.
“Just called Representative Brats office to let him know we backed his doing whatever he can to kill this thing.”
Good work, dogcaller!
No, I did not. Somewhat dismayed Gowdy wasn’t on the list.
I fear Gowy is the next Graham/Ryan. Does such a great cross exam, then just goes limp.
“How do you expect to hold him accountable????”
One might remember the act of one James Calhoun and his cane.
Just rememberin’.
;-)
Honor was once expected of those who swore to “Preserve and Protect the Constitution”, and the honorable dealt with the dishonorable, rather than waiting for other agencies to correct the bad behavior of one of their fellow trough feeders.
What we are observing is typical behavior of the Trough Feeder Class, behavior well known to the Founders. HOWEVER ! ! those same Founders knew that no law could substitute for a self regulating citizenry who exercized “eternal vigilance”.
We trusted government to be honest “Trough Feeder Persons”, and from Obama to IRS flunkies, we had our faces rubbed in what the Founders knew would happen.
Diogenes is said to have taken a candle and gone searching for an honest man. He never claimed to have found one, and that is why the Founders divided power. We thought we had done what Diogenes had not - but Obama and other Trough Feeders were not honest men, nor do they believe themselves committed to their oath of office.
Such is always the price of not being eternally vigilant, and the unavoidable price of accepting anti-American premises.
Now we must pay for our stupidity and lack of vigilance.
